    it would be hard as fuck to blow a tire, especially driving offroad which is what any rational individual would do in that scenario. avoid all roads. and alot of those M35's come with PTO winches for when you get stuck.

    I've been drooling over 100dollarman's junk for a long time, i almost bought one a couple years ago and still plan on it in the near future. With the 49s those things will do 70 mph on the highway and get 10mpg towing or empty. What alot of people are doing on www.steelsoldiers.com is doing a mix of diesel and used motor oil, like 25 percent diesel and 75% used motor oil that they run through a simple filtration system to get all the junk out. So if you have a couple oil change places around, you can get 55 gallon drums of the old oil, filter it, and get a couple aux tanks to get your total capacity around 200 gallons, and pay about 180 bucks for 50 gallons of diesel with a range of around 1500-2000 miles where you'd normally pay around 750-800 bucks for 200 gallons of diesel. WINNING

      I have a friend who rebuilds transmissions for a living that runs in old 6.9 on used motor/transmission fluid with around 10% diesel in the summer, around 25% diesel in the winter.

      It is a lot harder to find used motor oil than you would think. I was going to purchase a waste oil heater that used right over 1 gallon/hr at 125k btu. Problem is I couldn't come up with the needed oil without buying it. Two of the shops I used to work at while in college sell the oil to a company out of Little Rock, same with the oil change places.

        • I played with her yesterday and sheered the driver's side front suspension off. Someone had put the lift kit on with self tappers.

            Can you explain in more detail what happened and to which parts?

              That's all fiat currency. In the nightmare world after the collapse we will all be on a barter system. Videotapes of Hee Haw and Mama's Family will be the new currency and I am already a millionaire, my friend....

              • The shock tower was attached with 2 self tappers. Evidently, it held just long enough to pull it off the trailer and for me to sign the Mustang over. Not to fear, a little welding (which I don't have) and she'll be good to go.

                  Ahhh. Can you drill them out and put bolts in their place?

                  You might check and see if the shocks are too long and bottoming out before the suspension hits the bumpstops.

                  • That's what I'm going to have to do. The tower itself is a custom job that is going to have to be redone as well. The other side is held on with 3 self tappers. It's outrageous how this was put together.

                    • If it has to be redone, find a pair of Ford F250 front shock towers, they make life much easier.

                      Here is a little write-up.

                      And a place that should have them, Ford part number E5TZ-18183-A. I got mine from him a couple years ago, he might still have them in stock or maybe a Ford dealer can still supply them.

                            I was thinking that you'd run into too many fences, but you could always just take the small bolt cutters with you and cut the mother fuckers down. Any privacy fences, just winch em down. Cause you'd likely be doing a lot of driving through fields where there is a barbed wire fence every couple of acres.

                              • Since this is the "Bug Out" thread I thought I would post this here.

                                We may have ourselves a real shit hit the fan situation early this next week. It appears as though there is a REALLY big sun spot that is in the process of coming around to face us that is sending out a LOT of solar flares over the last 2 days. They haven't been aimed at us yet, but it has already sent out 2 X class solar flares.

                                Here is what Spaceweather.com has said about it;

                                STRONG SOLAR ACTIVITY: New sunspot 1302 is crackling with strong solar flares. This morning it unleashed an X2-class flare--its second X-flare in two days--quickly followed by an M7-class eruption. So far the blasts have not been Earth-directed, but this could change in the days ahead as the sunspot turns toward our planet. The sunspot is growing and there is no sign that it will quiet down soon. Visit http://spaceweather.com for movies and updates.

                                We currently have an 80% chance of more M class flares and a 40% chance of more X class flares according to Spaceweather.com
