You could have a point, but I have no idea where to get the conversion done and it sounds kind of complicated.

If you're mechanically minded, and since you're on this site I assume you are, you could do it yourself. You don't have to pull the motor or anything.

No, no... keep your AK, that is fine for its range (even though the ARs are generally more accurate), but also have some thing that has a round with a longer range too, like a .308 or 30-06.

Bare minimum for me would be a nice Combo of firearms that could satisfy most situations. Adistance rifle (hunting rifles are great). I went with a Reminton 700 VTR in .308. Then a lighter, higher capacity, common and cheap, mid-range semi-auto or auto rifle like an AR or AK. I've had both, but I'll stick with the AR. A shotgun for close-proximity zombie blasting. I'm fond of the good 'ol Remington 870 pump. A healthy calibered side arm that you're comfortable with. Mine is the Glock 23 .40 cal (post explosion generation). and a fall-back weapon for an "OH SHIT, OH SHIT, OH SHIT!" moment. I've got the Kep-tec P32 for that.

Now, I do have several others just to add to my arsenal and other special occasions, but this is a core minimum that I would be mobile with.

I never thought I would have any interest in something like this, but I think the "bug-out" thing may be my new hobby.

We've got "city chickens" and I never thought I would raise anything, I've never even wanted pets, now I've got a chicken coop and fresh eggs daily.

Do some camping and at the least get a couple bug-out bags ready. Buying some land is a lot bigger step, but wouldn't be all that crazy. I've realized over the years I can deal with neighbors, like the city, but sort of want to be out on my own.

I like doing loud shit all the time. Power tools, air tools, hot rods, motorcycles, loud music, parties. I try not to do loud things before 10AM or after 9PM, but the parties are likely a problem. I've lived here 3 years and the cops haven't shown up yet, but I'm probably not the guy anyone wants to live by. Besides it would be nice to be louder and all the time, lol.

I agree that it seems unlikely. But as history teaches us, societies have ended. Whole civilizations have ended. Ours is no more immune than theirs was. Some of them, they can't even tell why. No major cataclysmic event or anything.

M35A2 with the multi fuel motor that can run on damn near anything you can fit in the tank. Gas, diesel, used motor oil, linseed oil, whatever.
