Actually I think the real "shit hits the fan" scenario is going to be when gold and silver continues to sell off. That is when the end of the worlders realize that they have been raped in the mouth by the hedge funders and the proprietary trading desks at the banks yet again.

Since this is the "Bug Out" thread I thought I would post this here.


We may have ourselves a real shit hit the fan situation early this next week. It appears as though there is a REALLY big sun spot that is in the process of coming around to face us that is sending out a LOT of solar flares over the last 2 days. They haven't been aimed at us yet, but it has already sent out 2 X class solar flares.

Here is what Spaceweather.com has said about it;

STRONG SOLAR ACTIVITY: New sunspot 1302 is crackling with strong solar flares. This morning it unleashed an X2-class flare--its second X-flare in two days--quickly followed by an M7-class eruption. So far the blasts have not been Earth-directed, but this could change in the days ahead as the sunspot turns toward our planet. The sunspot is growing and there is no sign that it will quiet down soon. Visit http://spaceweather.com for movies and updates.



We currently have an 80% chance of more M class flares and a 40% chance of more X class flares according to Spaceweather.com

these flares totally screw up our communications at work. has happened two times now. should be another roller coaster ride this week with more crappy news.

My back up BOV is a 1991 Honda Fourtrax 300 4X4. Pretty much one of the indestructible ATVs from a coulpe of decades ago. I've done a few upgrades to it to make it a true all terrain vehicle.

27" Super Swamper TSL tires that are actually 29" tall
2" suspension lift
battery upgrade from a stock 5 amp/hr unit to a 50 amp/hr unit
upgraded headlights
fully snorkeled intake, if the wheeler is overloaded it can forge 4' of water
With the tires at 10 psi, it floats with me on it, therefore it can go ANYWHERE
Right now it has 11" of ground clearance, not bad for a straight rear axle
I have less than $1500 invested in the entire thing, including purchase price and the cost of replacing both front axles and other routine maintenance items.

I left the motor stock to retain reliability.



As far as my solar cooker, it's pretty self explanitory. Take one satelite dish mounted to a 2" X 12" frame and add about 300 1"X1" mirrors.

Been looking for a 4trax, a few out there. Saw a nice 00' mudd buggy with what looked like the same set-up you have (tires and lift).

As far as those 1"x1" mirrors, so far only place I have found them is Hobby Lobby and they only had 2 packs of 24 for like $2.97. Not quite there yet. lol

I got the mirrors at Micheals. They had them at about the same price as Hobby Lobby, but had more in stock.


I'm currently gathering up parts to make a solar oven. Hopefully when I'm done I'll be able to throw a pizza in it and about an hour later it should be ready.


I'm also in the process of putting an alternator on to a gas powered edger so I can recharge my solar battery bank if it gets too low. It'll be quieter than a generator cause I'll be adding a better muffler to it, and I won't have to run it all the time. I've got the alternator mounted on it already but it has issues so I gotta pull it off and get it rebuilt or buy a new one. I am putting a vapor fuel delivery system on it though so it will run for a longer time off of the same amount of fuel than when the carb controlled fuel delivery.
