Ya, I'd say that crossed some of our minds as well.

You all base survival on materials, food, ammo, trucks, etc. But are you all physically fit to move and keep moving. If things were to get so bad that people are killing, raping, stealing, you will be required to keep moving until things settled down. Defending at your home base is just going to open you up for a lot of attacks. You will be required to defend beyond your home base and fall back to base.

        Right. Fit physically, mentally, spiritually...

Read/Learn the Bible (especially Revelations). Come closer to God. First Aid/CPR (and the like) training. Learn farming (livestock and gardening). Self defense and practice with weaponry. Any other languages. Utilizing natural resources. Learn how to purify water. Stay up to date with all your medical/dental exams including vaccines and immunizations. Prepare yourself for worst case scenario, like living without a structured government or conveniences like emergency responders.

On any given day you most likely have the upper hand on any invader to your property but what you are failing to realize is that you will have about 10-20 people trying to rob you for everything you have. Well...shit. That's a game changer. I didn't think the end of civilization would have been so uncivilized. I was hoping for British engagement rules

I live in a loft on the 17th floor of a high rise down town, so my SHTF plan is to die.

Until it all goes bad in about a year, yeah. With something like CNG or propane, thats not a concern. I'm not saying don't have a gas vehicle. Put off using your propane and propane vehicle for as long as you can. But in a year, unless you are going to drill for and refine your own gasoline, you're going to be shit out of luck. Another way might be an electric vehicle and solar panels. But I'm not sure how long those batteries last. I think its like 5 years.

That's why I keep talking about constructing some automated defense turrets. They'd be motion activated and would have a motion activated video camera nearby as well. That way you can sit comfortably in your underground bunker, while that 20 people gets mowed down by two or three of these makeshift automated defense turrets. You just get some kind of semi-accurate submachine guns to act as the gun part of the turret. The fact that it sort of inaccurately sprays fire in the general direction of the movement, will be an excellent crowd killer. Its accurate enough that it will hit stuff that is moving, but it also sprays a bit. Have a few of those that pop out of random spots from under the grass, and those roaming crowds won't be a problem. You'll kill a lot of them, and the ones that survive will likely think its some sort of military base and never return.

But say eventually, one of the crowds gets "smart". The individuals have met up here and there, and discussed the slaughter that they survived at the hands of your defense turrets. So the get to talking, and they figure that your land must have something good, somewhere on it. And now that they know the turrets are there, they can defeat the turrets one way or another and get by them. That is why behind the turrets, you have land mines that can be triggered by stepping on them, or remotely by you at the base. And you have your cameras that are motion activated, showing you on your alarmed screen in your base, that a crowd is coming. You'll see how they plan to defeat the turrets, other wise they'd just be a normal crowd walking up to be more cannon fodder. So then you turn the off turrets (remotely of course) so that they're not destroyed. Its going to have been a while since the last time the people in the smart crowd were there, so the grass is going to have been blown by the wind and maybe grown a little so now the turrets aren't easily visible. You simply let them go right by the turrets, into your homemade minefield. If they don't step on one, you wait until they get close enough to one and detonate remotely. You do all this, and you're safe from any crowd. I'm of the opinion that most of this could be done without a huge budget. I've seen how to build the turrets, and the home made land mines are common knowledge. A good outdoor color camera security system is something that can be acquired quite easily.

And the very last line of defense, is of course you with your sniper rifle. But that should be a last resort because then you're exposed.

You could have a point, but I have no idea where to get the conversion done and it sounds kind of complicated.
