$25k account equity and run the trades on margin to get the leverage benefits.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Also, if you're trading with a registered daytrading firm, these rules apply.
You can round trip in a cash account all you want. There are 2 requirements for a "daytrade" 1) round trip during a day; and 2) use the relaxed margin requirements (leverage). A closing trade and reopen trade intraday shouldn't count as a "daytrade".
Four round trips in any 5 days in a margin account utilizing the lower requirements will earn you "daytrader" status. This is when you have to have $25k equity in the account. You'll receive a margin call to bring your account to $25k equity if you don't have it once you're flagged a daytrader. Daytrade margin requirements are 25% of the opening trade value. My old firm b/f MBA school would allow you to remove your "Pattern Daytrader Status" once a year.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.

Mike347, tangible book value is what you could sell the assets of the company for in a liquidation. When you buy a share, you are buying just the assets at a discount and giving no future value to earnings potential. While it isn't a sure thing to make money in a situation like that, it is pretty hard to lose it, you need a real disaster to lose in that situation.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.
