It's funny how white people are always quick to jump on the "It was before my time" boat about slavery, but a lot of theose non-Christian white will still throw the Crusades or Spanish Inquisition in our face. Actually, that is more of Catholicism than Christianity anyway.
Denny, your smarter than the average bear. I know you understand your religion and its history very well. My point was really that everyone thinks their religion is the religion of peace and forget the history it has. Please dont take it as a insult to you, I was speaking more in generalities than anything.

That was of a time when Christianity was subverted for political puposes, just like Islam is being used by wanna-be world players today. It provides a convenient and effective tool for a secular leader to use to rally supporters behind his quest for power. Christians have figured out however that the dictates of secular leadership in world governments today are not of primary importance in how they should live their lives.

Ahh, cool. I still think there are several denominations of Christianity that need to be revamped. Thankfully, they are nowhere as bad as this whole Islam crap. It's the bastardization of beliefs that really pull the extremists out of the wood works. If they didn't have a religion to blame it on, they'd find another reason to hate and kill. Unfortunately, while doing so, they pick up a few thet truely believe that is what the religion calls for.

I think the whole Catholic Hierarchy still tries to push its influence too far, even today. They are successful in some regions of the world.

there are all kinds of crazy christian groups in this country...just outside dallas a few years ago there was a group forcing 12 year old girls into marriage to 50 year old men, thats rape. there are plenty of other christian cults that have put people to death and justify that with "gods will" and dont get me started on you catholics playing hide the sausage with little boys and backing terrorist groups in northern ireland.

And then there are MANY Christians that openly reject and condemn these actions and beliefs. See the difference yet?

I've seen plenty of little terrorists who openly condemn the actions of their fellow muslims here in DFW and a few "country folk" in Iraq and Jordan. Then again the numbers are no where near equal, but that has more to do with the fact that most Christian's in America only go to church 2x's a year. I view it less as a struggle of religious principles and more of one regions struggle against modernity.

Fair nuff, bad choice of words. If every person in America who claimed to be christian went to church regularly there would not be enough seats. Being christian to the average American is like being Irish, German, etc.

Generally not as vocally or publically. They aren't demanding the other groups to stop.

Essentially, yes. They don't want the attention from either side if they stand up.

The average "country fuck" I've met in the middle east certainly didn't like most Americans because of what they've been taught, but the most of them didn't give a shit if Saddam was in power, Iraqi congress was in power, or if we were in power. Their life sucks so bad they just wanted to be able to farm in peace.
