So, which state-issued pipefitter license do you hold? How much state required training did it take you to get that license?

I understand that every licensed plumber is legal, but we both know that there "helpers" may not be.That's all Im saying.

Just answer the question, do you hold a state-issued piperfitter license? How much training and education did it take to qualify for that state-issued pipefitter license?

No I don't have a state issued pipefitter license.... we both know they dont have one,but yes I'm a BTJ pipefitter and that took 5 years to get.I could have done more hours in school to become a licensed plumber but like I said before I choose to weld instead. It is alot easier to travel as a welder/fitter in my trade and I chased around overtime years ago.

It takes zero training and experience to be a pipefitter. State the truth, you spent 5 years to get into the union to do a job that requires zero training and experience.

Why doesn't everyone that talks shit about unions post up what kind of job they have. Half the nay sayers don't have a pot to piss in and are just bitter.

More than it took for him to be qualified to be a pipefitter.

I posted what I do, hell I even posted which union I was in, and how long I was in it.

I see why the guy is mad, he claims it took him five years to train for a job that can legally be done by a 16 year old drop-out that has never done a day's work.

              • As a dues paying union member, I realize that I don't work in the "real world." Therefore, I do the best job I can as I am grateful for the opportunity. Sadly, many that I work with have an overwhelming sense of entitlement, are lazy as fuck, don't even perform the basic job duties, and do nothing but bitch about how they don't get paid enough to do what they do. They have been removed from the real world for so long that they don't realize that everyone doesn't get pensions, automatic wage increases, or free/dirt cheap health insurance. If their jobs went away and they went to search for another job, they would get laughed out of any HR office with their wage requirements.

So to me, the stereotype of a typical union worker being overpaid, unproductive, and ungrateful isn't that far off.

I'm pretty sure if I go to school or get someone to teach me, I can do it without a union. Unions should be destroyed. Groups that teach you a trade and ensure it's done to the group's spec that is higher than normal standards like the old guilds? That I'm behind.

Actually, you didn't unless you were licensed as an apprentice plumber while spending all those hours in 'stupid union school'.

But the phrase 'stupid union school' did make me giggle. Is that like McDonald's 'Hamburger University'?
