Saw the same thing many years ago when I was working for Bethlehem Steel....dealt with little/no minorities in the Millwright classification for the same reason, ie low test scores.

Yep... What they did at Bethlehem, was institute a program where a certain ratio had to be followed for moving up into that classification. They halted whites for a while, and the highest scoring black male, white female, black female, spanish surname and Asian were promoted. After they reached the "correct" ratio, they then took the top scorer from each segment to fill the slots.
If I remember correctly, there was a BIG stink when they started talking ratios in the Detroit Police Dept as there were way more blacks than whites.Natural law. Sons are put on this earth to trouble their fathers.Comment
