Obama: Everyone but me and a few elite should be very poor and live in mud huts in fear of their lives. But I should be very rich.

Government regulation wont allow you to do that. How long did we keep the VW TDI out of this country because it would not meet the EPA requirements. The European version gets around 60MPG but does not meet EPA standards yet the one that is sold in the states gets around 45MPG.

Couple that with our very stringent requirements on diesels here, along with the lack of availability nationwide and suspect fuel consistency and it'll be awhile before it ever happens. Here in DFW we have diesel stations everywhere and good fuel, drive out to podunk Kentucky though and it's a lot harder to find.

I have been all over this country hauling my race cars around and have never had a problem finding diesel. the germans, especially VW have been doing it for years, so there is a market here. there is a guy up in denton who makes a living converting peoples new suburbans and tahoes to diesel, so its not like people dont want it.

Why do people want to buy cars on the lot? When I buy new cars, I order them and wait 2-3 months. I don't want the one that every sales guy has beat up on 10 times already.

Also, I am very pro Diesel, I wish I could get an AWD, 4 door sedan, with 40mpg and a Diesel. At least put a Diesel engine into an F-150 so that I don't have to buy the big truck, but can get an engine that lasts forever.

thats another thing, why cant I get a diesel engine in an F150, or any of the mid size truck? in fact I have never understood the point of a gas powered truck.

I have driven cross country and you might go 20 miles before the next diesel stop... they are not everywhere. Mostly truck stops on the open roads.

While Im a diesel fan...its not needed. New 4.6 motors are going hundreds of thousands of miles. Hell, the 4.6 was voted most reliable engine a couple years ago. The new ecoboost (while it is not proven yet) can tow 10,000lbs. There is no need for the diesel. If you guys havent noticed, Ford had a problem with their diesel manufacturer and had to switch to their own engine. Most people dont keep vehicles long enough to need an engine to go forever. Not many people will put 100k miles on their car. Even if they do...these motors are lasting well beyond that.

Back a few years ago, no one gave a shit about mileage. It is just in the last 5-6 years it has become an issue. Back in 2000-2001, gas was $.99/gal. You think anyone gave a shit then? Now that gas is over tripled...its another story. Now that global warming and going green has become trendy, it has become a problem.

if I am hauling 2 race cars and a pit cart to laguna seca, a 4.6l truck is not going to cut it. hell hauling just one car is not going to cut it. you put a gas truck to work against a diesel, and the diesel will kick its ass every time.

Yeah, I want a non-full sides truck with a Diesel for many reasons:

*For work I often need to sit in the car/truck for a long time. It kills water-pumps on gas engines
                  *You can tow almost anything
*Biofuels that gets almost the same MPG and cost 1/3 as much
*The longer you own the car, the better it performs with a diesel.
*You don't need 3 parking spaces everywhere you go.

Might not be 100% accurate, but those are things I have noticed from our trucks.

good thing we are all on the same page of diesel cars and a small diesel f150 to haul those 2 race cars.

Biofuels are just as expensive.. When I had my 2nd truck, B99 was the same price. B10 was around 3 cents cheaper. Besides...those places are almost non existent in most of the country
