The F-150 is #1 seller for how long?

And the manufactures don't know the market?

Just another example of how pompous this guy is.

LOL...ya. A tax-subsidized $40K car no bigger than a $20K car that has a ROI (purported gas savings) of 20 years.

If that thing was $23k I'd consider buying one, at $41k though ($33.5k after rebates) it's still out of the range I'm willing to spend on an economy car with suspect reliability and a dealer network full of retards.

Come on man... sacrafice your money to save our planet. Help GM become more profitable because Obama said that trucks/suv's arent going to cut it. It think its your American Duty to bail out these companies and buy something that is profitable. Go green and only use coal fired electricity instead of gas.

I read an article a while back where they tested the Volt and in the cold winter, they got 35 mile range...that shit wont cut it in TX

Yup, the colder it is, the less efficient the battery is. Also, those tests didn't include turning on the heater in the car.

...another ranting on crap fuels of today...

When I was 11 years old (1990) my dad had an 82 Suburban with the craptastical 6.2l diesel. He was able to haul a full load of Boy Scouts, gear, and enclosed trailer full of gear at an average speed of 75 mph all the way to Cimarron, NM and back while still getting 22 MPG.

Now, folks are lucky to hit 15MPG while worried about over heating their Duramaxx at those speeds with that much of a load.

Never had one issue with over heating my Duramax at any speed or any weight, I hauled 20k of cattle with 4 200lb men in 60* air conditioning just the other day and it was 108* outside the engine never got past 200*. Now it did get around 14MPG and the load was only about 70% of that tank.

As for the 6.2L, I had a 1985 long bed 1/2 ton back in HS that damn thing would get 30MPG plus on the hwy no shit, but it loved to eat transmissions and would not pull the hat of your head.

I am guessing that the 1985 truck weighed around 5k now my 2007 2500HD weighs 7200lbs and gets 20MPG in town thats not bad but would be better with better fuel.

When you bailout corporations this is what happens. The government is buying power using our tax dollars.

The race for better stats is the cause of that. Its the natural evolution of vehicles to get bigger and fatter. Look at the Civic it went from a compact to a mid sized car now. I want a new civic r18 motor in a 95 hatch, and see the mpg difference.

I have never been able to understand the american auto manufactures when it comes to making MPG efficient vehicles. Is it that hard? if it was up to me and I was in charge of one of these companies, I would offer every single vehicle in the line up with an optional diesel engine (with exception to high performance cars). most cars already have multiple engine options, how hard would it be to offer a diesel engine option?

Nooooo then Diesel will be 7 dollars a gallon. Anyone want to explain why Diesel jumped up so damn high when it use to be way cheaper then gas.

You can offer it but Americans want to buy a car from the dealer on the spot, and dealers aren't going to order small diesel cars unless they know they can sell them. Until you have verifiable demand in the market they aren't going to be offered. Couple that with our very stringent requirements on diesels here, along with the lack of availability nationwide and suspect fuel consistency and it'll be awhile before it ever happens. Here in DFW we have diesel stations everywhere and good fuel, drive out to podunk Kentucky though and it's a lot harder to find.
