Something to ponder: did W keep the bubble rolling for eight years, but Obama couldn't?

If we were doomed to experience what we're seeing now, can we blame W for it? He didn't create the mess, more or less he stabalized it while in office, and once gone, the house of cards tumbled.

The house of cards tumbled while he was still in office, not blaming it solely on the pres, but where the hell were you??? 787 BILLION in bailouts ring a bell?

This is what blows my mind about the American people. Incredibly short memory.

I'm not saying he created the mess. The dot com bubble burst, then 9/11 happened further tanking the economy. However, He did increase gov't spending 100% and the national debt that took ~200 years to accumulate doubled during his administration. Combined with a loose monetary policy by the fed, years worth of revolving doors between finance & the SEC, expanding a housing program of failure that dated back to the Carter admin, and many other things led to the crash of 2008

Bush wasn't a major factor in the 08 crash and Obama isn't a major factor in this one.

I know, but I just find it amusing how all of the cheerleaders for each side see the two men as drastically different polar opposites.

Dems love Clinton and he was pro big business, when a R is that way the dems get all pissy.

People are dumb and our politicians have to appeal to the lowest common denominator to get (re)elected. We're so fucked.

Obama is pretty far across the spectrum from both Clinton and Bush. At least that is the way I look at it. He is the most radical president we have had in quite a while.

There is more than one way to measure intelligence. Would you rather take Bear Grylls or Albert Einstein on a trip across Antartica? Obviously Einstein was more intelligent but Bear wouldn't need a baby sitter and could probably save your life.

Baron: Of course Bush kept the bubble rolling. He wanted to have a balanced budget and to cut taxes and make everyone happy but unfortunately Al Qaeda had other plans. Then we had Katrina and Ike that didn't help out a whole lot. Short of war time presidents I can't think of any that have had a tougher deck dealt to them than George W. Somehow he managed to keep us afloat and kept the suicide bombers away from our soil.

Perception is part of it. I'm giving up on Fox News, or I guess I should say I gave up on it a long time ago. If I'm getting news on television it's basically only financial news and I don't need FNC or CNN for that.

Not saying that you do, but if someone was to listen to FNC one might have the belief that our president is an African-Communist-Muslim.

Liberal outlets act as if he's the second coming.

When the election comes around I'll vote my straight republican ticket and continue to bitch about whoever the next guy is.

giving up on fox news means you're relying almost entirely on liberal media. I've found that as the mainstream media gets further and further left (it's literally turning into state controlled marxism) Fox News appears more and more right, which it's just the mainstream traveling further from center.

                          Agreed and agreed.

Lower taxes did nothing to get us into this. If Obama would take a giant dose of "fuck off" and taxes were cut the economy would slowly begin to pull out. When he is replaced and people feel confident that they won't be forced to live on less, spending will grow and things should normalize, to some degree.

I don't think President Obama is stupid.

But he sure as hell is incompetent.
