Yes, that's something that has long been a problem. There is not enough responsibility in the public school system to perform. Some teachers get their tenure and they lose ambition to perform and succeed. Inner city schools are the very best examples. The department of education is the biggest joke we have right now, they are completely worthless.

It's funny how the left demonizes private industry. They try to turn "For Profit" into the devils work. Instead, they offer government programs and departments - which are not "For Profit" they are for failure... and lose SHITLOADS of money every year. The whole big government cradle to grave shit has to end now. I do NOT want to end up like Europe, where men have truly lost their freedom.

One of the problems with privatizing all of the schools is you would have a lot of lower class people that would refuse to send their kids to school if they had to pay for it (without it being focibly taken by taxing). Nevermind that they might be saving money on the difference; they wouldn't understand it. The end result would be an entire lower class with even less education than they have now, which is low to begin with. Of course then there would be government subsidies for the lower class, which would come from taxing the middle and upper classes, which would do nothing but increase government from where you originally intended to cut it.

Perry is not my favorite but is leaps and bounds better than obama. Getting rid of obama is the main thing that needs to be done in 2012. Perry comes for a state with low unemployment compared to the rest and good employment. Since the economy is going to be the main topic this puts him up top right away. Things like Texas' education and his complacency of illegal immigration may end up harming him. Perry on a ticket with Marco Rubio would be a hard ticket to beat.

Perry is a politician plain and simple. Remember he was a democrat and was responsible for brining ACORN to Texas. When he saw the tides changing in Texas he jumped to the republican party and has been there ever since.

But if you compare him to the the others he does have a good chance
Palin - very polar views about her
Romney - Romneycare, his religion, may be too centrist
Paul - too far left wing regarding national security for republics, too right wing on all the other subjects for democrats
Bachman - too right wing for most people
Gengrich - has been a target of the left for years, obvious polictian, is for cap and trade
Cain - Lack of political experience, national sales tax
Santorum - no one knows about, campaign manager not doing a very good job. Left wing on some foreign policies
Pawlenty - how is he a republican
Huntsman - union lover

I drive on a tollroad every day and it is well worth the money, heck I may even save some since I am not sitting in traffic for an extra hour. They have been working on 35 down in Hillsboro for how many years? The PGBT expansion in the Garland/Rowlett area took 2-3 years to build. I believe Perry once said once the tollroads are paid for they would become public but I am fine if they are not. There are other roads but it is my choice to drive on

i dont have a problem with private business replacing public infrastructure but in that situation your tax rate needs to decrease. i really have a problem with converting free roads to toll roads.

I don't agree with everything concerning NTTA. Increasing tolls for instance leaves me a little confused.. Tolls are to pay back the building of the highway. Once you're accepting tolls you already know the cost, finance charges, etc. for the entire project... I don't see the reason to adjust above inflation. I can understand small increases for maintenance. I must be missing something in that regard.

Instead of taxing everyone, he approved NTTA (a private company) to create roads and only those that use them pay for them. That's the idea. If you haven't noticed, most all freeway construction in north Texas in the last ~10 years has been private. The state has proven to be quite slow and lethargic on just maintenance, let alone new construction. 820 has been 2 lanes for... how many decades? There are advantages and disadvantages to each approach. Private industry has proven it can quickly produce road infrastructure, and maintain it very well. Highways are expensive as SHIT to build.

Say one thing, then do the direct opposite.

It's hard to say, time has proven that the most conservative candidates don't always do well (Thompson). Perry is fiscally sound, a little too socially conservative for me. Most of the dissent against him seems to be a personal, or a single policy level. It seems a lot of the people against Perry have this emotional dislike for the guy that they never can substantiate beyond a single piece of legislation. I trust him to run and execute a conservative administration more than any other candidate right now. I trust Perry on fiscal issues, I trust him more than ANY candidate on gun issues. Paul would do what he says for sure, but he's radical enough that he could very well choke up the government with all it's cronyism. Gingrich has a long, long track record of conservative policies, however he is buried in the cronyism and he's not always on the right side of conservative issues.
