Our troops should be committed to doing one thing only by the powers that be in Washington, that being neutralizing our enemies by force without the specter of being branded as criminals by the liberal press. These "nation-building" experiments in Iraq and Afghanistan do a disservice to our military and what they train for.

Attempts at nation-building are more palatable though if being willingly performed by our contractors rather than being forced upon our military.

The sad part is, when we initially went in, Bush said that these wars were going to pay for themselves. Three years later out here; he forgives their debts to us.

We have some US oil companies coming out here little by little, but mostly Chinese. They're doing turn-key projects from ground to barge- all Chinese labor too.

Don't forget the Canadian drilling companies too. I have three very large Canadian O&G clients in the KRG right now. I'll be back out there at the end of the month.

Are you still in Kirkuk? I thought I was done with that damn country I've been managing the project in West Africa since June. Only to get a phone call stating I've been requested back to Suli for another QA/QC.

Ya, I'll be here until September 9th or so.

I gave some training to the NOC people on "environmental responsibility."

They don't get it... at all.

It's a whole lot cheaper than trying to do it with the Marines and 101st. If it's true though then Obama is a whole lot better president than I give him credit for. If the CIA were capable of toppling all the middle east regimes though I'd think they might be able to speed things up a little in Venezuela though. Then again maybe they have been pumping radiation into Hugo's coffee for the last few years?

Yeah this company has ran 4 replacements off since I left them at the end of April. They've comprimised and said they will do with who my company sent out only if I would come back and close this one out and do the Rig up on the next well. My only gripe is the Rig crew they are all contracted out of Egypt nothing gets completed as scheduled

Almost expect it. - somewhat related, During the initial Tunisian uprising, then the Libyan and Egyptian uprisings nerd boards were circle jerking over Anon, the internet super heroes, helping the people, crashing military communications, etc.

"Yay internet freedom fighters saving the worlds!"

Someone posting outside the US started a thread that went over a hundred pages in a few hours. The poster theorized that Anon was the perfect cover for the CIA in this capacity. The nerds refused to accept that was even within the realm of possibility.

Seemed plausible to me, they could operate with complete anonymity amongst a hacker nerd movement that went from basically exclusively DDoS attacks to being able to crash a nation's military communications overnight. The US could aid regime change without firing a shot, without putting one pair of boots on the ground, and the international community wouldn't be the wiser. I would be surprised if they weren't participating in this some way.

It's more efficient/economical to do it with a computer vs. sending American men/women in to do it in person.

FWIW - I admire the bravery of strangers from across the globe putting themselves at risk trying to do what they can to aid in freedom/democracy/regime change in some part of the world where they've likely never been or never will go.
It is a hacker group, they are not doing it to liberate anyone, they are doing it because they can.

I guess our Play-stations needed some of that freedom/democracy/regime change...
