  • CDL required to run tractors

Evidently, the federal government wants to start forcing farmers to have a CDL to drive their tractors, along with all the BS that comes with it

That's pretty dumb about the tractor deal. Im not sure the story on pulling a cattle trailer. I understand that it is commerce, but that is what ag exemptions are for.

The next step they will take is anyone driving a vehicle for business purpose will need to pay an extra tax and have a special permit...

FWIW, most of the farmers in my family and that I've worked with growing up had CDL's or employed someone with one.

I had to get a CDL a few years ago, in order to haul my race car trailer.... you see while Texas sees a race car hauler (truck & trailer) as a recreational vehicle and does not require you to obtain a CDL, the state of tennessee does not see it that way. I got pulled over by a state trooper after passing a weight station in eastern tennessee, even though I was registered as an RV, still got every bs ticket they could give me, totaled about 20 grand and impounded me. after hiring a lawyer, they dropped almost everything as long as I got a CDL.

my point being, different states have different requirements when it comes to CDLs, it would be hard for the federal government to regulate this.

That is jacked up. My grandpa would be rolling in his grave if this passed. He had a century farm and in his area, farmers helped farmers at harvest.

This is just a revenue stream grab by the gub'ment. Nothing more.

Isn't everything really just a revenue stream for the government. I can think of one million things.

So if you get a DWI and loose your license does that mean you can drive your tractor in a field?

Similar experience in TN (cookeville). That fuck hit me for everything he could (not the dollar figure you had though).

A driver that worked for me told me that in the early 80's a trucker got hit several times in TN on the same trip and lost his cool, killed several troopers and for years they backed off. Perhaps a refresher would get their heads right?

The US is apparently ONLY about making cash at this point. Unfortunately, I see my exit being inevitable if things continue.

Texas passed a law this year that require anyone 18 years old or younger to pass a boater safety class before they can drive a boat on the lakes. It is only a matter of time before they require a boating license and insurance.
