Dont you understand Obama wants this to go past the elections so he looks like some freaking hero and he can get reelected? Boehner has made it clear that his cuts are true cuts...not an already planned decrease in spending from the Iraq/Afghanistan wars that was added into Reids plan. Sure Reids plan looks like more cuts but its not due to the decreased spending on Iraq/Afghanistan. From what I have read, his plan is to cut more defense and less entitlement programs.

The true question is...why the hell cant Reid and the Dems talk about their plan. Where are the cuts? What is the plan? They have never openly showed a budget. People think Ryan's plan is insane... at least he has a damn plan

the problem is every time they, kick this down the line a little to buy them more time it drives the cost up more. right now we need 4 trillion, next time around we will need even more, eventually you will need to raise taxes if that number gets high enough. neither plan is going to solve this problem. putting both these plans forward is irresponsible, and more of the same.

So let's say for shits and giggles, there are 40 Million people receiving welfare and another 20 million people on Social Security....I have no idea if those numbers are correct. Let's throw out there that the maximum benefit is 40 hours on minimum wage...$286/wk.

Hmm, my calculator gave that to me in e^10...so that's $1,700,000,000...no, that's $17,160,000,000 per WEEK! That doesn't even include medicare costs that are spent.

I thought the daily payroll at the postal service was a lot of money...but $17B per week to keep useless fuckers alive. That's $892.3 Billion a year....to minimum wage and 40 hours into the hands of 60 MILLION people.

Now, take into account that chart in the other thread saying Medicare is 280 TRILLION a year....? WTF? So that's $280 Trillion spent on that same 60 million people for health care...really? That's $4.6 MILLION per person for health care? I realize my grandparents are in the hospital every other week but for fawk's sake, they didn't spend a 4th of that last year...so are there 240 Million people spending a Million dollars per year on healthcare...

Maybe my calculator is overheating from the size of these numbers or something is seriously wrong with that chart....or our country?

      What are the real numbers?

Here's my .02. At this point the question isn't even will the debt limit be raised anymore. It will, 100% chance. The question is, how much and for how long. Republicans want it to be short term so they can start this giant shit storm again in 2012 for a slam dunk Obama going away party and the Democrats want to get it long enough so the news can start another topic like troop withdrawl. At the end of the day, generally speaking, all everyone actually gives a fuck about in Washington is votes and keeping their jobs.
