if its history then it deserves a place in our history, even if it is not popular. we teach black history in our schools, but its not like its a whole class or anything, as far as I remember its just a chapter in a history book. there are important parts of black history that I believe need to be taught to the next generation. as for gay history, are there important things that need to be taught? sure, they got the right to marry in some states, that deserves a place in history books, and I think HIV and how it relates to gays is important enough to be taught to kids.

Considering all the laws and social norms that have been changed over the past decade or so, I don't really see gay history any different than black history, or the changing of marriage laws in this country (inter-racial marriage), women's right to vote, prohibition laws, end of slavery, etc.

That doesn't mean anyone has to be interested in them; I love history but some of that stuff was boring as hell to me in high school. However, if it is OK to teach one I fail to see how it is suddenly not ok to include one. It is a part of our society that has done some changing, after all.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Government should not be forcing a particular lifestyle down the throats of anyone, especially impressionable children. If the person made an important contribution to this nation's history, fine, but don't harp on the fact that the individual is gay and make that your primary objective. And make no mistake about it, that's exactly what this is.

I expect that sort of bullshit from Cannonball, but not from you.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

I agree, I dont want to see the lifestyle aspect of it taught, especially the sex. but the historical facts do deserve a mention in the history books.

Meh, maybe in Health class. They don't have any problem showing you the nastiest blue waffled vaginal crater, I don't see how two dudes poking each other in the pooper is any more terrifying than that. If anything, those pictures would be more likely to turn a guy gay than just giving the students the schematics of how a gay relationship works.

So what you're saying is being gay is similar to Nazis?

The sexual preference of someone is not relevant to history.

Everything that anyone has ever done is relevant to history. That is why it is called history. It is how we got to where we are today.

Depending on where in the country you're residing it most certainly does. I'm not saying I agree with the agenda at all, but I could see how offering an alternative history class in parts of California for say..HS seniors could better help them understand the social and political landscape of their home. However replacing all US history with a forced section is overboard imo.

Right, what relevance does sexual preference has in our history? Who cares what preference Hitler, Patton or Obama is?

What relevance does skin color have in our history, or religious affiliation, or political ideals?

That's my point. None and it shouldn't be taught. Black history month? Fuck no. Gay focused lessons? Fuck that. When are they going to have straight, white, Christian studies?

They already do, they're the lessons on the crusades.

He's referring to people removing religion from schools, only to put the "gay agenda" in its place.
