Sure you can. You can cut spending. We currently SPEND more than we MAKE, that's why we're in DEBT.

Obama's tax RAISE would increase revenue by $700 BILLION. With his current spending plan, we'd still INCREASE the DEBT by $9 TRILLION.

So, how does the tax increase help when spending is hugely disproportionate to revenue?

I was doing rather nicely until 2006, and then started doing worse in late 2007. Care to venture a guess what happened on those dates?

Didn't GDP grow like crazy after the Bush tax cuts?

You need to bring in revenues sooner or later to make a business profitable.

And if you have cost overruns, what do you do first? Raise the price of your product?

You need to bring in more than you spend, either way. We need to cut spending, even Obama's plan still increases debt, even with "more revinue" becayse simple fucking math isnrt being done.

You say this like our money is the government's to spend.

Not necessarily. You don't raise the price more than what the customer wants to pay for.

As said, the tax increase Obama wants will do nothing for the deficit at hand.

You sure as hell can! We're talking SPENDING cuts, not TAX cuts.

In a simplistic way, think of the economy as a 5 gallon bucket. The tap is turned on, but there's a hundred holes in the sides that let the bucket drain faster then we can fill it.

Currently, we are paying another water company to help fill the bucket on the premise that, at some point, our faucet will out flow the leaks and we can give them their water back. We've been giving the water back because we have to, but at the cost of importing even more water. We can open our faucet up more, but our reservoir is pretty low and damn well might run out.

So, turn on the faucet or start plugging leaks? Your democrats currently wan to turn on the faucet even more after acknowledging that we're still leakin faster than the bigger tap will provide.
