Right. This is exactly why a national sales tax would be more effective. Now, I didn't say it was the answers to all of our problems, but it would be more effective.

A sales tax is a regressive tax and will cause more harm then good. It is a proven economy killer; not a good option at all. A flat income tax is a better idea but it still has it's own problems.

A dead cut-off would cause anarchy. Godzilla marching through Los Angeles would cause less havoc than that monthly gubment check not being in the mailbox come the first of the month.

I work for the US Postal Service doing building inspections all over the 5 state area. There have been a couple times I will be in a building around 10am on the first of the month...and the mail is late. It's a ZOO with old people and the poor moaning that they need their hand outs.

Personally, the welfare system should be a primary target list for kill squads. I do suppose I wouldn't have a problem with giving a homeless guy a check if he gave something in return other than body odor. Sweep the streets, mow the grass...do SOMETHING!
