Sooooooooooooo...the one thing about living in Austin is that there are democrats everywhere. I was talking politics shortly with some co-workers and I mentioned that even though I voted for Obama, I regret the shit out of it and can't wait until he's out of office...went over how his solution to anything is just to make a committee and throw a shit-ton of money at it and how unemployment is at an all-time high and what he's doing is going to hurt the country BADLY in the years after his term. They pulled the whole "Well eight years of Bush" bullshit. I replied with Obama's spending VS Bush's spending WHILE FUNDING A WAR FOR 7 YEARS is half of what Bush spent, but in 2 years VS 8. Then something comes up about unemployment and I mention that of course you think it's better because the TX economy is typically better than the rest of the country because TX industry is the most self-sustaining of all the states. This girl says something about TX receiving the largest bailout of any state in the history of the U.S. The only bailout that I could find was for TX education at 3.2 billion in 2009. Other than the fact that it was for education which largely is federally funded anyway, and the reason probably has a lot to do with people from other states moving to TX, not to mention the kids who's parents are here illegally attending public schools.
Just wondering how I should respond to this. You guys keep up with politics a lot more than I do. Also, I am right that public schooling is largely federally funded right? That's why we have standardized tests? Districts that do better get more funding?
