A lot of father-son talk and and rino policies.

Yeah right. He wants you to think that so you'll vote for him. Then once he gets in there, he just never really has time to get around to it.

Is the tea party an actual party now? Or something? I have not kept up with them for a long time.

Rick Perry has advanced gun rights in Texas more than any other governor I can recall. He put the Castle doctrine into law, allowed citizens to keep weapons in their vehicle regardless of company policy, as well as many other bills increasing our rights as gun owners. That's one thing I wouldn't complain about.

Perry has done (or attempted to do) a couple of things I didn't care for, and frankly pissed me off. That said, he'd still be 10X better than Barry Oshithead any day of the week.

Yeah I agree. But at the same time, he is just one of those typical slimy politicians who will do one or two things to help him get elected to higher office, then once he's there things change. He's certainly no Allen West or Ron Paul when it comes to his convictions. You can tell by just listening to him talk that he isn't nearly single minded about our rights as we need him to be.

Rush sure keeps talking up Perry. He's a pompous ass no doubt but at least he loves Texas and believes in letting the states run themselves. He's a christian that loves guns and thinks the global warming crowd is stupid. He's pro life and anti gay marriage.

The trans-Texas corridor thing pissed off a lot of people but I like the idea, just not the toll road aspect of it. Then there is that HPV fiasco he pushed for. Other than those two deals I can't think of too many things he's pissed me off about.

He's in a great position to bash Obama over not caring about Texas regarding the wildfires and about border security. He's also the most tenured governor in the nation, over one of the largest states. You can't argue with his experience. He's also a veteran (USAF Captain) and has ran a profitable business in his lifetime.

I'd also absolutely love to see him appoint Greg Abbott as the US Attorney General. Hell I'd love to see Abbott run for president but he wouldn't get enough support.

I must have missed that part today, most of what I heard him talking about was Gingrich in the 80's. You don't get to a governor position without being a politician. He's one of the very few politicians that I've actually seen accomplish things that benefit me. I would think he's the strongest candidate if he ran.

It's great and all that the right can find things they like about Perry, but there's not a moderate in this country that would vote for Perry and that's where this election is going to be won, yet again.

On that note, Zombie Perry is better.

It all depends on the sales pitch. Barry won't be getting all the white guilt votes this time around, he'll actually have to explain what he's been doing the last few years. Perry can take a play straight out of the liberal book and bash Obama over Gitmo still being open, troops being in Afghanistan and us being involved in Libya.

Then he can talk about how he'd finally start improving border security instead of making jokes about it. If fuel price are still through the roof during the election (historically they aren't) he'll be in a perfect position to talk about domestic oil production, an industry that Obama has pretty much choked the life out of. He can also talk about how he works with both sides of he aisle instead of alienating people with differing opinions. Until the republicans took the house Obama didn't even aknowledge they existed.
