You know, I was thinking about that. Why did they fly a SEAL team all the way from the Gulf to do this? No wonder they had a crash. Pilot fatigue in a tight spot. That's what Carter did when he made an attempt to recue the hostages from Iran.
Did they say it was from the Gulf? Jalalabad is a whole lot closer. Obviously they ended up in the Gulf but they could have been on standby in Afghanistan and handed the body off to another group for transport to the carrier.
