Surely there's other black people born in Hawaii in 1961. I'm curious what race was typed on theirs.

Black possibly but not African. Barry's dad was very exceptional, he was the first African student ever at the University of Hawaii (two years before Obama was born). There were never any African slave ships in Hawaii, they had a slave class of natives so they weren't needed. The few Africans that were there in the 1961 were either very wealthy, in the military or had someone else paying their way (as was Obama Sr's case). If they were military I'd assume they would have gone to a base hospital so that rules out a good percentage of them. Even today the population is only 2.4% black, it was considerably less than that in 1961.
