It was a symbolic vote to show Obama that the Republicans "mean business this time!".
Of course they don't mean business and will fold like a fucking lawn chair on the day they absolutely have to fold. They will drag it out to the bitter end just to grab votes. The bottom line is that they CAN'T not raise it. The Dems will be on TV talking about social security checks not getting mailed and the Republicans phones at the capitol will start ringing and never stop.
I have read many different opinions on QE3 and most people in the know say it would be too politically costly for the Fed to do it. As in, the resulting inflation would drive the masses crazy and the net result would be Congress reducing the Fed's power to take action in the future. We shall see I suppose.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

Lol at Nokia...what a shit show.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Ugh...
I get the feeling the Democrats and Republicans are going to attempt to take the teeth out of each others' plans, and we'll go down to the damn wire. Cue Uncle Al's predicted grandstanding:
ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

Both parties want to keep spending, that is the problem. The only reason the Republicans are saying they don't is because the polls tell them to say it.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

Spending Cuts
Originally posted by 347Mike View PostMy little brain may not be able to comprehend this but why don't they just shut off spending, make drastic cuts fix the problem and be done with it? You know, like what individual people and families have to do when they don't have money to pay their bills? What is there to think about? When I was younger and didn't have all the money to pay bills I had to eat cheap, live cheap, and spending was out of the question. Lifestyle change for sure. I understand it is not because of us, the people, that got us in this situation as much as it is the government, but I say do what needs to be done, make it hurt and get it the fuck over with. The current plan of sitting around fondling ourselves obviously isn't working. If I have to pay more taxes for a year or two for the greater good ie retirement for me and/or even my kid, then so be it, but do something.
This just seems like a very simple solution. If I have 0 dollars in the bank but have 3 credit cards with no balance, I am most likely going to find a way to make more money and not max my shit out and borrow money....
Just my two cents.
