Frijoles rancheros, caldo de pollo, or subway. Usually the greasy foods make it worse for me.

Hangovers aren't about fixing them once they're there. It's about prevention. Eat food. Preferably something that has some bread or dough to help absorp the alcohol that hasn't been absorped by your digestive system and sent to your blood stream. Also, take a multi-vitamin, and drink a few glasses of water. Seriously, chug down at least 32oz of water or gatorade/powerade.

Alcohol depletes your body of nutrition so you have to nourish yourself. The same holds true if you skip all the shit I just said and opt to deal with it in the morning. I have some friends that swear by a bloody mary to get rid of a hangover, but the alcohol in it will just result in a temporary fix.

Lastly, avoid products with a lot of sugar. When you're drunk and hungover, your blood-sugar level is through the roof. Don't do anything to increase that.

The only reason I know about the blood sugar level thing is that I donated blood after a long night of drinking and they said it was super high. I was in great shape at the time, and the next time I have blood I hadn't drank in a few days before and pretty much had the same diet and they said it was fine.

"Absorb," is the word you're looking for. Also, eating starchy foods while you're still drunk is a myth, since soaking up the small amount of residual alcohol in your digestive tract is almost pointless, short of a preventative measure for those with alcohol poisoning. Alcohol isn't subject to the first pass effect, meaning it simply passes through your esophageal and stomach tissues, and goes directly into your bloodstream. By the time it hits your small intestine, it's usually down to about 30% of the alcohol it originally contained. If you're really concerned about, "absorbing," the alcohol in your digestive tract, you'll eat high-protein/high-fat meals, like a mexican style breakfast. They trigger higher stomach acids and intestinal enzyme production, helping you break down what's there. Or you could drink activated charcoal. Your choice. Eating large amounts of starch will make your body pull more water into your large intestine, and dehydrate you further. Nevermind that alcohol is a diuretic to begin with...

The best remedy is a big glass of water and two aleve when you get done drinking, before you go to bed. EDIT: My personal hangover curing meal is a plate of migas, with cheese and a side each of chorizo and hash browns, some Louisiana hot sauce, and flour tortillas, with copious amounts of coffee and water. My preferred place to buy this meal is the Goldrush Cafe at Skillman & La Vista, in East Dallas.

I usually don't have much of an appetite after a bad hangover, especially when I buy the cheap Vodka. I just hydrate and pop a couple of Motrin with a few crackers.
