Twisted Root or other good burgers?

    Did you have a cold or something? I suppose they could have forgotten to season the beef or something but completely flavorless is hard to accomplish with grilled beef and chili.

    I've had two burgers from there I didn't like but it was personal tastes. The Hot Bastard is as advertised. I'm guessing they use ghost peppers because I couldn't eat it. Then the basil and mozzarella burger, those are two things that shouldn't be on a burger. Fried basil and mozzarella sticks might be good but a thick chunk of cheeze and fresh basil wasn't good.

    Everything else I've had was excellent though. The only place I'd rather go than there for a burger is the Woodshed and that's if the weather is really nice since it's pretty much all outdoor seating. The service at the Woodshed is generally better but you are paying for it.

      We had lunch at Rodeo Goat Saturday and thought it was pretty good. It was a perfect day for the patio, so that's where we sat. We were there with a large group for about 3 hours and they were jam packed the whole time but, to my surprise, they actually handled the crazy amount of people that were there very well. Had a Sugar Burger and it was very good. The fries were decent, a little greasy for my taste. The tap list was great. Velvet Hammer, Sit Down or I'll Sit You Down, Hairy Eyeball, El Chingon, Mustache Rye'd, Day Break and several others. We'll definitely be back.

        They are always busy, even at 4pm on a Saturday you'll have to wait a little bit for a table. I'm sure you know or figured it out but they are part of the Flying Saucer group. Hence the great beer selection and communal table setup.

          Didn't know that. They're on point with the food, at the Goat, though. I haven't been since they moved, but my main gripe with the saucer was the food. The beer was clearly the focus and that's always been where they're awesome, but add good food to the equation and I'm even more inclined to make the trip.

            The food is dramatically better now. They didn't really have the room for a real kitchen at the old location so I don't think they even really had a chef. 8.0s had a decent kitchen already and they got a ton of money to remodel it with the move. That and they brought over the chef from the Lake Saucer.

            It's hard to compete with the Reatta and Del Friscos across the street so obviously there is better stuff in the neighborhood but the Saucer's food is pretty good now. It is not fine dining though.

                    La Monumental is awesome give it a try if you are near sylvan/30, I do grilled onions and a fried egg on mine. The place makes really good spicy fries and shakes too.

                      Totally off topic but you west siders should go check out the scotched eggs at A F+B in West 7th district. They're nothing short of glorious.

                        I'll keep that in mind. We rarely get out, but the last couple of times we have, it's been to the West 7th area and we always comment about it and the transformation of some areas close by and how nice it is to visit.

                        There are so many appealing choices now and the fact that so many of them take such pride in their food and beer offerings is really cool. There have always been fancy restaurants and places with good food, but there seems to be a real food/beer movement in DFW lately that I can't quite put an exact title or name to. Places like Rodeo Goat, LUCK, Goodfriend, so many others that I can't keep up with them. Maybe it's been around longer than I think and I'm just late to the game.

                              I thought the exact same thing! Stacy got the Cowboy Cobb steak salad, and sure enough, it had a real sirloin steak grilled and sliced on top of it. Her salad had far more flavor than my burger but also had quite a bit of gristle.

                              Tab plus tip was just under 50 bucks for a (fancy) burger, a (fancy) salad, and two (fancy) beers. Maybe I just expected more for the price because IMO there are better options out there at that price point.

                              PS - The jalapeno croutons on the salad were awesome!

                                It's awesome. We moved close to downtown a few months ago. We're foodies (shut up Brent) so we're digging the proximity to cool places to try.
