Cold Weather food ideas?

Chili, gumbo, potato soup, chowder, etc.


I made carne guisada yesterday. Perfect for cold weather, but good in any weather. Smothered pork chops above are good for cold weather too, because it's so heavy. Italian is also good cold weather food, for the same reason.

We have been using a big sirloin for our carne guisada and the wife found an awesome recipe online. Its easy as hell, but takes about 3 hours to make.

This recipe was given to me by a friend, and it supposedly came from a grandmother that doesn't speak English. I had to make a substitution, and I'll do some things differently next time for sure. But it was delicious. I used chuck roast. 10 hours in the crock pot, and man it was tender.

For me my favorite cold weather meal is some frito pie or some good home made soup.

Posole, caldo de pollo or posole.

Old lady made us some chicken pozole. Cant't beat some well you can beat some chicken pozole with pork pozole but still good.
