You are from Louisiana, correct ? I have never had any locally at a restaurant that were worth a shit. Over cooked, underseasoned, or overpriced.

Naw, we bought 50lbs back in West Monroe last week. I remember Pappadeaux had a weekly special but like you I don't remember when. However I do remember it was still something like $6 and the quality was... meh... I'm looking into Shuck and Jive and Aw Shucks.. I had not heard of either of them before.

Saltwater Willy's was pretty damn good... Every morning they sent a guy out to Shreveport to pick up their daily cache of mudbugs. Their cook did it up right...

Holy crap, Aw Shucks in $9 a lb... but they are also the only one of the places suggested that have mudbugs on hand today.

I'm gonna have to break down and make my own this week..

Just buy some frozen ones that are preseasoned and season them up to your liking. They are like $3 a lb.

I had some damned good Cajun food over the weekend at a place called Bayou Jack's in Roanoke. We had the Shrimp Grits and a really kickass blackened catfish dish. This place might be a little drive from Denton, but I think it would be worth it. They offer crawfish seasonally, and it's a little early in the year, so I'd give them a call and see if they have any.

Classic Cajun cuisine served fresh and fast! Enjoy a large menu featuring crawfish, shrimp and Po'Boys!

I know crawfish as a whole are available now (had some last week). I just thought the bigger/better bugs don't start rolling in til around late April/May.

I heard or read about that place recently and been wanting to check it out since it's near my work. Sounds like the food is pretty good over there.

Came across this last in the Observer and figured it might be worth a read here.

When I was a kid, the best eating of the year was crawfish season. My people are from Louisiana, so at least once a year, someone was buying several cases of beer and a few hundred pounds of crawfish for a big-ass party. The crawfish of my childhood were cooked...

Boiling Crab and Nate's are usually good. Razzoos does have some good size crawfish at times, but it's going very fast right now.
