So Saturday was Australia Day, the equivalent of the 4th of July here so everyone gets drunk, cooks up some BBQ, and hangs out. Of course, it isn't really an Australia Day unless you cook up some fuckin' 'roo.
Most people might be thinking "fuck that, I ain't eating no giant pouched rat", but I am the type to give any cuisine a try at least once. So low and behold one of the guys brings over a cooler of Kangaroo steak in all sorts of flavors and whatnot:
So we heated a pan with a bit of oil, seared the steaks on both sides for four minutes each, and took it off which left it about medium rare:
I was hesitant at first to eat it because it is only 3% fat (the protein content is incredible) but let me tell you; This stuff is delicious. It has the texture of good venison but a sweetness that is hard to describe. It is an unusually sweet meat, and the meat can stand on its own without any marinade or spices. It is also cheap as hell, as you can get two giant steaks for about $8.00 and have a damn good meal. All in all, I will be buying this stuff again because it is just fantastic!
