I ate at Metro on Davis/Hampton about 3 weeks ago and it was just like the one on Gaston. I ate at Market Diner on Harry Hines for breakfast/lunch on Friday and it was packed to the walls. Both are favorites of mine. Normas has good breakfast but haven't tried anything else they sell.

I will second Norma's. I went there a few times over the last couple of years and it was pretty good.

It's better than most, but nothing that's going to knock your socks off or anything.

Had the cfs at Po Melvin's a few weeks back. Pretty good. Not holy shit awesome, but pretty good. Maybe I'm on crack, but it seemed like their menu was small. Not a lot to choose from. You do get 3 fucking sides with the cfs though. That was cool.

Dude, have you been to the Gold Rush Cafe on Skillman, yet? Go in any day but Sunday, and the owner George will be behind the counter. Ask for migas, "how Yale likes them." I guarantee he'll remember.

I tried this. George took a dump on my plate, then sat on my lap while I ate.

It is really fun to eat on diners with your friends as you have your chit-chats.

The quaker steak and lube place reminded me of Donna's diner in Sharon when I was up there passing through.
It's a local chain, but one that I have been loving the last few months. The ONLY place (besides some truck stops) that remind me of PA diners. Just has TX menu items, but they do them pretty well.

....that's the one I specifically go to since I'm doing a job down there. It's old, has old school waitresses, old people in it and so on. I leave there stuffed at lunch and over-tip a tad for under 10 dollars usually.

Haven't been there in a while but I used to be a regular there. Above average food and pretty good service. Good Po Boys, chicken fried chicken, and loved the fried pork chops.

Did you do the 1 pounder? I was in there a couple weeks ago, for the first time in years (I used to work there), and saw that was new. Yes, the menu is small. They know what they do well, and they stick to it. Po Mel's has been an institution in Irving for a long damn time, and the menu is always the same. The only change I know of them making is the option for the one pound CFS, and they had mac & cheese as a side for a while, but scrapped it because it didn't do well.
