Taco Cabana Brisket Tacos

I need to see if the one by me will sell me their tomatillo salsa by the quart, I fucking love that shit.

Brent, I know you know decent stuff. I have to tell you about the best green salsa I have ever had. I got it at a tortillaria last month at the corner of Rosemont and Clarendon in Oak Cliff. They also pound out handmade corn and flour tortillas there (obviously). It was cheap too. Four dollars for a pint of salsa and a stack of hot fresh corn tortillas.

Believe it or not, for a few years I grew up there on Rosemont. I was the only white kid a la escuela.

I'll check it out. I think I like Cabana's tomatillo salsa because it's got so goddamn much lime in it. I've tried to reproduce it many times, and while I can get close, it's just not the same bite.

No, not really. It's not a sit-down restaurant or anything, they just make and sell tortillas. But the Supermercado #1 at the top of the block (Rosemont @ 12th) has interesting stuff. Like lengua. Yuck.

If you guys roll out there, let me know, I'm looking for an excuse to go back.

I think that bite is coming from unripe tomatillos. That's always been my suspicion. It is good but I go for that black roasted salsa every time.

Place is a hit or miss. Times their chicken is juicy, other times it's kind of dry.

Normally there's not to much to brag about Taco Cabana (probably the best flour tortillas for a fast food chain though) but I had some of there brisket tacos the other day and they were pretty damn good. Not BBQ smoked brisket like I'm used to but a good variation that's soft and juicy and perfect for a taco.

Has anyone else tried these?

Ordered some a few days ago bc of this thread. Not impressed.

I like them, it's better than anything Taco Bell down the street has to offer. I've also tried their new asadero taco, which are pretty badass as well.
