I was gonna say the only thing i actually liked at Torchys was the elote.

Just drive by some crappy parts of dallas(harry hines/oak cliff-south dallas)and you can find some really good elote.


It's not hard to make it either but mine doesn't taste the same

Fuel City used to have the bomb diggity elote. The last time I was there (2 winters ago), the elote and the tacos were extremely subpar.

Why is that? That little taco joint in there used to be the shit. But I was highly disappointed with my last visit. Could have just been an off day, but I haven't been back since.


For the record, I've got more experience with food than most people here combined, with very few exceptions.

i think i went there 4-5 years after a gun show, it was quite a bit better.

I have been eating there for 5 or 6 years and IMO, it has not changed.

Like I said, it could have been an off day. The day I went, everything was closed because all the bridges and roads were iced over. Maybe the regular cook couldn't make it in that day or something. All I do know, is that they had been good previously, but that specific day, it wasn't good at all. I threw half my order away.
