My bad on the recommendation. I read a review about it online and thought it was good.

Bartleys is above average but very consistent. We go a lot because it's so close to the office.

I thought Bartleys was mediocre the couple times I have gone.

Has anyone tried Bartleys in Grapevine?

Everyone I work with says its awesome, but they have seriously let me down with past recommendations.

I need to make a trip to Pecan Lodge one weekend.

Right now my BBQ rankings for the area are

    1 - Lockhart in Plano
2 - Big Daddys Roadhouse BBQ in Lavon
3 - Slow Bone in Dallas
    4 - Fred's in Irving
5 - Sammy's BBQ in downtown or Mike Anderson's by Parkland

Just wanted to report I finally got to sample Pecan Lodge's brisket and I have to say it's probably the best I've ever had. Freaking 90 minute wait...I was getting pissed. But then I ate the brisket and life was good.

I didn't say Riscky's was any better. But neither are any of those you mentioned.

I guess if you like flavorless beef jerky, eat your heart out.

If he'll be in town on Friday for lunch I'd recommend The Smoke Pit, their 1lb pork chop is cheap and awesome but call ahead and reserve one. It is a dive joint for sure but the waitresses wear bikini tops, it's cheap and and the food is good.

Me personally I do Railhead regularly. As long as they are busy it's really good. I get the two meat dinner and my wife gets a brisket plate. With drinks and everything we are out for under $20.00 (they do a 25% military discount).

If you want to drop some cash and go fancy the Wood Shed has been good every time I've been there. It is EXPENSIVE for BBQ though. Lunch with a couple of drinks was $50.00.

My first thought is hard 8 because it's close to my work and it's a touristy type place but is there somewhere else toward FTW we should try
I've been to hard 8 a lot and would like to try something else

I have been here before and the brisket is really good. I would wait for more than an hour for a table, as I think it is worth the wait.
