Pecan Lodge in Dallas

My sister went up to Pecan Lodge this afternoon for lunch because her co-worker from Houston considers herself a BBQ connoisseur. The show up at 11am (big mistake) and there is a line that wraps up a bit (at least an hour wait). Her co-worker went up to the front to ask how much of a wait there was and discovered that have an "express" lane if you buy a minimum of 5 pounds. So my so my sister spent $80 on brisket, ribs, and pulled pork and I got invited over for lunch.
So the meat wasn't bad. The brisket was a little lean but I had some moist pieces, plenty of smoke and flavor. Ribs were good, great flavor and smoke and had a good amount of meat. The pulled pork was OK but I'm not a big fan of it anyway. I tried some of the sauce and it was good but I prefer meat plain to taste all of the flavors. Overall I thought it was worth the price (especially after Colter's) but I wouldn't wait 1-2 hours in line for it.

And here are my choices in my area, Dickies and Colters...

Yes sir, today I bought for four.
1 1/2 lb of moist brisket.
1/2 lb of lean brisket
1/2 jap sausage
1/2 reg sausage
1 lb smoked ham
2 corn on the cobs, basted in butter
1 smoked potato with fixins on the side
1 large beans
1 loaf of white bread.
Pickles, japs and onions
I got a gut full of bbq and can barely move...

I should move to Arlington, most of my sisters and Mom live there. And quite a few friends as well.
Rudy's I've been too;
Original location in Boerne
Austin (Roundrock)
Denton
Frisco
Allen
Corpus Christy
Arlington
Waco - I used to go to LMR to pick up my parts and then go to Rudy's and eat, then bring some home before they opened the one in Denton. Guys at LMR used to tell me that could have my parts delivered by UPS in one day. I said yeah but then I don't get any Rudy's, lol!

I haven't been to many others, but the brisket at Rudy's is done right at those locations

It's at the split of McDermont and Main just west of Greenville. I haven't been there yet, but it's at least another BBQ joint in the area.

don't get me wrong, i like rudy's alright (got a brisket sandwich last night in fact) but pecan lodge has ruined rudy's for me. hell, i used to do a good brisket myself before i sold my smoker but pecan lodge makes me look like a chump.
