we ate steak & lobster or skrimps once every 2 weeks. sometimes more often if it was a short patrol. i never once complained about the food in the navy
I didn't complain either, plus it was free and I didn't have to cook it. I know we had powdered eggs though.

we got omelets made to order if we wanted. every breakfast, everyday. it wasn't uncommon for single guys to gain a few pounds while being out to sea

hell i knew some guys that would eat every meal everyday(4 meals cause we had mid rats)! i loved mid rats, those were usually the best meals cause that's when the cooks would cook up cool shit they couldn't get away with during the day

I was setting you up for the perfect Aggie joke about opening the screen door on that submarine.

I always envisioned deep sea fishing from the coning tower.

i am done with aggies jokes after i told my ipc teacher one when i was a freshman. she didn't find it funny at all. partially cause her little brother was there for the accident and that he was friends of some of the ones that didn't make it

the sail? there is not enough room up there, plus the surface guys were the ones fishing. we did however jump from the fairwater planes

I just know subs from The Hunt for Red October, and Das Boot. I just always imagined sailors would fish off the side of their boat when it was surfaced for a prolonged period.

yea we are only surfaced for the shortest times. that whole "being stealthy" part kept us from doing the fun stuff
