Or wet aging for that matter. Very few steakhouses in DFW dry age.

Spices, sauces, and toppers cover up for lower quality cuts, and improper cooks. Salt, pepper, butter. Anything more is blasphemy on a true prime cut.

      Pappas
Pappas Bros, Steakhouse, Steak, Private Dining, Festivity Rooms, Catering, Career, Locations, Gift Cards, Pappas Gift Card, Pappas, Family

      Or Ocean Prime

By far the 2 best steaks I've had in Dallas. Was actually in Nashville this last week and had the #9 steak house in the country and both of these were better IMHO

Looks like Bob's, CG, and Ruth's are the 3 to choose from. Guess you can't go wrong on any of these. Will probably think it over a few beers tonight..lol. As far as home steak vs. steak house, I'm with the others. Hard to beat a steakhouse. I've had my grill up to about 700 degrees, using wood. Hard to reach those steakhouse's temp. Pepper, salt, and a brush of olive oil is all I use on my steaks. Plus, I hate to use that much wood for a few pieces of steak. I don't have a badass grill, but it does the job.

Never been to Bobs, but been to Ruths and I would take it off the list if it were me.

I agree. Ruth's Chris isn't very good at all IMO.

I'll agree 99.9% of the time, by at CG one of their Delmonico steaks has this sauce on it...dude, try that and see if you still feel that way. I'm not kidding, it is great. It compliments the meat that only your taste buds can describe.

I still feel the way you do, except in that one case.

1500-1800 degrees doesnt mean anything to me.

Its more about flavor vs. how hot the grill is. Ive eaten at Japanese steak houses on the habachi grill (not comparing a Japanese steakhouse to an actual steakhouse) but the grill being that hot just cooked the steak faster, it didnt make it taste any better.

I guess I need to go to a better steakhouse then. Dont laugh but the most expensive steak Ive ever eaten eas $26.99 and to me, wasnt worth bragging about....at all.

X3. I'm a very surprised out tender n juicy their steaks are. Don't even need to add sauce to the steak

Yup, 99% of the time steaks in that range will not be better than home cooked. You have fairly low quality cuts, with some minimum wage cook making it. That 26.99 probably included 2 sides and a salad too right?

For instance CG runs you 40-45 I think just for the slab of meat to be cooked. Sides cost extra. That's when you start tasting stuff that is better then you grill at home.

Don't get me wrong, you still want to eat what you grill at home. It's just a nice treat to go out for those steaks.

For what its worth, I like to go to Hillstone for a medium priced steak.
