So what are some of y'alls more educated opinions on this fight? I've only seen a couple of Jake Shields fights, and they were battles. Shields is a BJJ guy, right? I'm trying to remember the last time GSP was even challenged. I know BJJ is supposed to be the great equilizer, but isn't GSP's ground game pretty good as well? He seems to be leagues ahead of his opponents as far as strength and stamina go. Just looking for more input. Like I said, I've only seen Shields a couple of times but I try not to miss a GSP fight even though they're not really action packed, it's neat to watch him pick people apart.

Both fighters have excellent BJJ skills, but in Shields case, it's all he has got. GSP has dealt with BJJ fighters of Shields caliber before (Matt Serra) whom GSP lost to once (KO on the chin, not a submission) and GSP won the other.
The difference in this fight is GSP is superior in almost every way to Shields with exception of BJJ skills which GSP is good enough to nullify Sheilds BJJ.
TO ME the fight looks like this -
cardio - GSP. Shields cardio is very suspect.
strength - GSP
speed - GSP
BJJ - Even
Wrestling - WAY lopsided to GSP. Sheilds can't wrestle for shit.
Striking - Again WAY lopsided to GSP. Shields punches like a girl and his kicks resemble Steven Segal's.
Boxing - More of the same, he trains with one of the best boxers in MMA in his camp (Nick Diaz) but yet Shields continues to look like he's never thrown a punch in his life.
This fight is very hyped up due to Shields success in Strikeforce where he competed against questionable competition, lastly a very dominating performance against an aging legend in Dan Henderson. (Who's rumored next fight is Fedor, sorry Randy, a bridesmaid yet again)
The ONLY X factor in this fight is GSP's questionable chin which I doubt very highly Shields will be able to hit due to his lousy boxing and footwork.
GSP wins this one anyway he wants.

GSP FTMFW, Shields better hope he gets knocked out before the championship rounds start, if hes still standing at this point, he won't be for long...Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

Yep, he should've moved down about 5yrs ago

Fedor would benefit greatly from getting with a real camp and taking his training much more seriously - he should have done it 5 years ago too. Training with his brother, some high schoolers, and some weird priest in the mountains isn't good enough anymore.

He should be able to make 205 easy.
