Mavs recommitting to defense? Can it be true?

Ever since Chandler spoke out a few games back about the team needing to play more defense, they have turned in some pretty respectable performances defensively, perhaps some of their best this season. In the 4 game winning streak, the scores have been this:

Mavs 101 GS 73
Mavs 104 Minn 96
Mavs 94 Utah 77
Mavs 91 Phoenix 83

GS and Phoenix are 2 of the top scoring teams in the league. Dallas gave up 30 pts the entire 2nd half to Utah and 34 the entire 2nd half to Phoenix.

The defensive FG % in these games has been 35.1, 48.8, 42.1, and 42.5

So what do you guys think? Is this sustainable? They did well the entire first half of the season, then got sloppy. I guess we'll get our chance at a statement defensive performance in LA in a few nights.

Do it against the cream of the crop and then I will start to trump their defensive horn.

The teams are terrible, but Phoenix, GS, and Utah are 3 of the top 4 of the league in scoring. You don't just hold these teams to high 70s/low 80s by accident. You have to want to do it.

Top 4 scoring teams in the NBA go like this:
Phoenix: 110.2 ppg
Golden State: 108.8
Denver 106.5
Utah 104.2

Holding these teams to between 27 and 35 points below their normal scoring average is quite impressive to me.

It's all a plan... they are letting Timmy get more rest than needed with his "injury" I think it is to late for anyone to overcome them for #1 seed, but however I think this will mess with their make-up and it'll come back to bite them in the playoffs.
