So Auburn will be relevant again in 2056? Is that enough time to rebuild/clean house?

good read - explains why Cam is still playing. Sounds like this is on par with what SMU did for the death penalty.

If all the allegations are true can the ncaa let the report go public? This is a whole lot bigger than just Auborn. How could the so called enforcement arm of college football not know these type of activities were taking place? There are also some references burried in the post about "ref gate" . This has the potential to bring the whole system down if it is allowed to pan out.

My question is that if it's all true, how long will the they hold back before going public. Should be interesting.

              PART FOUR (IV) - (continued)

Remember EVERYONE has now lawyered up, and remember the change of heart from "He’s clean!" to the “No Comment” response. Here’s what is being said by those in the “know"……… Auburn did not suspend Cam because the NCAA didn’t tell them to. They let Auburn make the decision and then after the fact will hammer them for doing something "they should not have done" Right now All Auburn cares about is beating Bama, winning the SEC getting Cam the Heisman, playing and perhaps winning the MNC, and marketing the hell out of their success..and deal with the NCAA later. And for those wondering why people thought Cam wouldn't play... it's because the president, the compliance dept and a couple of coaches all wanted to sit Cam. THAT is why so many people were sure Cam would sit. They knew what these guys were saying. HOWEVER, the AD, boosters and the rest of the coaches wanted to play him. It's clear the president and the compliance dept weren't being listened to. All of this is an exact repetition of what the SACS complained about in 2001-2004. It was only after strong urging from the Governor stressing to the accreditation board they were fixing the problem. Some Repair.

Now, take into account the similarities of the BoT and Colonial, and the ability to launder money through the various foundations becomes mind-boggling. Also don’t forget that McGregor is major gambling, betting houses, casino business, and is reportedly now the main money-man between the Boosters and Newton. Now are you starting to see what is so disturbing to both the FBI and the NCAA? In short, Major Gambling tied into illegal activities in College Athletics. Also don’t forget Saturday’s game with Georgia had the line pulled not once, but twice. Think inside information was being passed? This is not going to end well, and why so many are speculating Auburn’s dismissal from the SEC and ultimately Athletic Death Penalty. This is also the speculation as to why Mike Slive tried to drag his feet regarding the investigation hoping it would just go away. Now look at what is being reported in Sunday’s New York Times, specifically the quote…….

"But what could happen in the next few weeks is a nightmare script for the N.C.A.A., the SEC and college football. From the involvement of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to the gluttonous news media attention, the story is one of the most explosive in the history of college football."

It looks like everyone has a lot of the same information, but from varying sources. This is the same guy that broke the Cam Cheating information a week ago. By the way, SUpposedly, some reporter sent out a blase e-mail to the Faculty or Student Body questioning Cam's attendance in class. From his responses and subsequent notations, it seems Cam has been skipping the majority of classes according to those in the know.

I’m not sure how this will end, or the validity of what is being reported. But I can tell you most in Alabama think there is a major bomb getting ready to drop, and this is being reported on both sides. Whatever the outcome, this story sounds like something from a Grisham Novel, Huh?

Just after this hit the wires, RollTideTA of TideSports.com posts an e-mail he received from someone “in the know”. The e-mail contained the following:

“…The Feds have tape from wire taps made on McGregor and other prominent Auburn boosters from their investigation. The Newton's were just shopping their talent's to the wrong people at the wrong time and thus there is hard evidence available that incriminates everyone involved. It's only a matter of time that all of this information becomes public.

FBI found out about Cam before the NCAA did while wiretapping Milton McGregor and others related to the casino/bingo indictments. They uncovered conversations with McGregor, Auburn and Cam's uncle in Michigan. McGregor paid $250K to the uncle through a PAC and other hidden entities and the uncle funneled the money to Cecil.

The FBI gave this information to the NCAA sometime after the indictments were handed down. They had to sit on the information for 6 months until the grand jury indicted the men and women in the gambling deal. All of the wiretap information was sealed and that is why the delay in investigating. The NCAA had to go to Miss St to see if Cecil had solicited money from them as well. That is why Miss St is involved. They are basically connecting all of the dots. Miss St may be cleared because they told Cecil no. He then went to Auburn. The offer was on the table from McGregor but Cam wanted to play at Miss St and not Auburn. When Miss St declined to pay him, he went to where the money was... hence the comment, "The money was too much." The FBI met with the Miss St coaches, John Bond and Bill Bell today to get their official statements.

Later in the day, ESPN reported Bill Bell received text from someone purportedly to represent the Newton Family outlining the payment schedule the family wanted in order to have his son play at MSU. Bell also handed over tape recordings of Cecil saying “'Dan Mullen is going to have to put a smile on my face if he thinks he's going to get my son” – substantiating the “Make Me Smile” comments rumored shortly after MSU went public.

Bill Bell, a Mississippi State booster and former player at the school, told the NCAA he received a text message from a man claiming to represent Cam Newton's father that outlined a payment plan designed to bring the quarterback to the Bulldogs.

Some more goodness, not from BOL though:

                      quote:

The FBI has been investigating Colonial Bank and Louder for a number
of possible violations in the financial market crash which are
unrelated to AU. Part of the investigation involved gambling fraud
between McGregor and Colonial Bank. Something called the Rico Stature
allowed the justice department to set up wiretaps on Colonial Bank.
On the wiretaps the FBI found major AU recruiting infractions involving
Louder, McGregor, Dye, Trooper, boosters and others.
Here’s what they say the FBI has on tape and can prove AU did:

                      • The people above are on tape explaining who they paid and how they did it.
                      • It involves many AU players
                      • Providing unmarked Colonial Bank ATM cards to players to withdraw
                      money from secret accounts.
                      • Giving “slot machine cards” to the players, which now involves the
                      Alabama Gaming Commission.
                      • Provided improper loans to some of the families in our last and
                      current recruiting class.
                      • The NCAA “strongly” recommended that AU sit Cam for GA. game because
                      of the mounting evidence.
                      • President Grogue wanted to sit Cam but was overruled by Louder and
                      the Board of Trustees.
                      • Coach Chizik knows none of this and has been lied to by Jacobs.
                      • The people named above know the S%#& is going to hit the fan “big
time” and have decided “we’re going down” so lets win the title even
if they take it away later.
                      • Slive knew about this early and sat on the information and is also
in the “crosshairs” of the FBI..
                      • The corruption is so deep at the highest level (trustees) that AU
will be evicted from kicked out of the SEC.
                      • This will be revealed by the end of the week.

                        This is telling as well...

Take this for what it is worth. I'm just an old guy who knows little and remembers even less, but I've been around enough times to know what to believe and what not to believe.

I've been reading this forum off and on, but have never posted here. I don't plan on posting here again, but I do want to make my one post count.

To begin, those of you who are jumping ship because there is no damning evidence thus far, man up and be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day, and the barn won't burn faster just because you want it to. Trust me, though- it will burn.

My credentials are this: I know people who are in position to know things because I used to be one of those "in the know". I was involved in the initial investigation at SMU, not as a University official but as an NCAA pencil pusher. Right now, I have one son teaching at UAT and another in the athletic department at Auburn (I also have a cousin who was once employed by Auburn, but he has since cut ties with them after a falling out a few years ago). Finally, my neighbor and closest friend started as a CART agent with the FBI and does work with AccessData's FTK on the side (he's the guy who proves you visited those websites you lied to your wife about). I say all of that to say this: I consider myself well-connected. That does not mean, however, that I will defend to the death my sources. Anyone offering "insider" information, unless they are actively involved, is only doing so out of good faith to their sources and a belief that they can contribute in some way. This is where I stand.

(1)Cam Newton: Unless he stands at a podium and flashes cash, he's playing against Bama. However, his ineligibility is guaranteed. Auburn knows this, the SEC knows this, the NCAA knows this, and Cam (should) know this. This is the least of Auburn's worries because,
                        (2) Auburn is going down. Cam is essentially a diversion. Let me repeat myself again: CAM Is ESSENTIALLY A DIVERSION. There was a slush fund, and this fund was accessed by Auburn players through ATM cards. The paper trail will show this. The FBI is offering unbelievable deals for those who talk. Unfortunately, those in the know have to keep hush-hush while people are talking because this is a federal investigation, which is why
                        (3) This has taken so long. It is a process, people. The NCAA and others are not just sitting on their thumbs. It's like being in line at McDonald's- no matter how fast you want to move, you have to wait on the folks in front of you. Auburn knows this, and the mood in the Barn offices is gloomy at best. There is concern over heavy, heavy penalties, including loss of SACS and the NCAA Death Penalty. However,
                        (4) Auburn will not be given the Death Penalty, and it's extremely unlikely that it will lose SACS. The Alabama legislature and governor are willing to do whatever it takes to keep Auburn open and funded. The last time Auburn was in trouble with SACS, the governor begged for them to be spared. That won't work this time, but that is because the Alabama legislature is going to
                        (5) Clean house at Auburn. The BOT will be made up of congressman (if certain folks have their way), and no one other than academic deans will retain administrative positions. The state of Alabama, UAT, and the SEC NEED Auburn open, which is partly why
                        (6) Auburn will (almost certainly) not receive the Death Penalty. This is the only part of my information that I wish I felt more comfortable about. There is talk among those in the NCAA office of TV blackouts, scholly reductions in the 50+ (over at least 4 years) range, limits on assistants, and a revocation of almost all recruiting rights. Monstrous fines will be levied as well. This brings me to my last point,
                        (7) Most of the Auburn folks were grossly unaware of any of this. Chizik's reputation is dead amongst many boosters and faculty. There was a meeting at an airport to discuss what everyone (boosters, admins, etc.) knew, and as the meeting went on, anger turned to fear, fear turned to rage, and rage turned into disbelief. It was during this meeting that possible implications on SACS was brought up, during which point near panic ensued. The Auburn folks are waiting on the hammer, when they should be preparing for the bomb.

So, take all of this with a grain (or truckload) of salt. I won't post again, so don't post anything expecting a reply from me. Forget about all of this crap with "a big story coming in X days"- there is no timetable for this. Expect this to go slowly, and expect Auburn to finish its season with no NCAA/SEC intervention. Once again, I am passing along information that I trust- what you do with it is your choice.

                        Respectfully yours,

                        G. Franklin

I realize it takes time, but it's gonna look really bad on the NCAA if Newton is allowed to compete for the heisman and/or Auburn is allowed to play for a national title. They need to act before either of those things happen.

You gotta be shittin' me. Isn't the NCAA opening up a loophole for all future recruits?

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is eligible to play in the SEC title game, even though the NCAA says his father broke rules by shopping his son to another school.

The NCAA released its finding in a statement on Wednesday. The college sports governing body had concluded on Monday that a violation of Newton's amateur status had occurred. Auburn declared Newton ineligible on Tuesday and requested his eligibility be reinstated.

Newton has now been cleared to compete without conditions.

No. 2 Auburn plays South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference championship game on Saturday. With a victory, the Tigers will earn a spot in the BCS national title game.
