  • Von Miller

Good thing this guy is gone from A&M..
Speedy Texas A&M outside linebacker Von Miller improved upon his impressive NFL scouting combine showing.

Miller ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds today at the Aggies' Pro Day workout, faster than his 4.53 that he clocked at the combine.

The Butkus Award winner is a fast-rising draft prospect who's projected to be picked within the first five to 10 selections of the first round.

"I love watching the kid on tape," NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock told National Football Post. 'I can’t tell you how many times I wrote down, ‘Wow.' He might have the quickest get-off explosion in the draft. He almost defies gravity. he's a phenomenal pass rusher.

"He’s a little bit undersized. You’ve got to figure out how you’re going to play him, but when you’re looking for natural pass rush ability, and that’s what the league is about right now, he’s at the top of your list.”

Miller is a terrific pass rusher, but also showed at the Senior Bowl that he can also be an all-around linebacker who's capable of dropping back into pass coverage and stuffing the run.

Miller also knows his football history.

When former Texans A&M and Alabama defensive coordinator Joe Kines paid Miller a compliment by comparing him to the late Derrick Thomas, Miller did some research.

Kines coached the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame outside linebacker with the Crimson Tide. And Miller would like to follow in Thomas' big footsteps.

"I got a lot of film on Derrick Thomas, I like the way he plays the game," Miller said. "Joe Kines told me a long time ago that I had similar attributes to my game that he had. Right then and there, I looked him up and just watched him. I try to emulate some of the stuff he does. You can’t do some of the stuff he does, but I try my hardest to be like Derrick Thomas.

"Just his mentality about the game. I don’t think it’s his physical ability that I try to emulate. It’s the way he played the game with a relentless fanatical effort with every play That’s what allowed him to make the plays that he made."

The Texans native led the nation with 17 sacks two years ago.

The 6-foot-2, 237-pound native of DeSoto, Texas recorded 10 1/2 sacks and 17 1/2 tackles for losses as he transitioned to a 3-4 scheme as a rush linebacker position called the "Joker."

The All-American selection would have probably been a second-round draft pick if he had entered the draft last year.

Miller registered 27 1/2 sacks and 39 tackles for losses during his last two seasons in College Station.

"Von Miller would fit in any defense really well," Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "He looks like he's a very explosive player. He's one of the few guys I happened to see a little bit during the course of the season, and he's an explosive football player. I think he's going to be a good get for whoever gets him. He'd help us, just like he'd help a lot of teams."
BTW: I dont believe Pro Day times anyways..

I just ran a 4.11 at my Work Pro Day in the Hallway.

Yep, definitely a beast. Should be interesting to see if he does better than Dat Nguyen did, which I believe he will.

Didn't read the article but Cowboys just put something out about him saying he wanted to be a Cowboy.

Not sure we need to pick another outside linebacker in the 1st round.

I know we loved having him at Kyle field....I hate to lose him but hopefully Sherman has some more good ones up his sleeve.

Yeah. That's the problem. Top 10 talent, and he's hoping Dallas picks him at 9. If we didn't already have 'so damn many unproductive OLBs, and so many glaring holes, I'd say go for it.
