  • Rangers Spring Training Thread

Beltre is out with a right calf strain and Mike Young is leaving for a funeral and will be back "within the next couple of days".

The only two guaranteed spots in the rotation are 1 and 2 with CJ and Colby. Hunter, Holland, Webb, Kirkman, Ogando, Feliz and who knows who else fighting for the last 3 spots. I like the pickup of Arthur Rhodes in the bullpen, hopefully he can post similar numbers to last year.

How do you think it will go this spring?

Daniels has shown that he's not going to coddle Young and hopefully that doesn't implode and cause a lot of trouble in the clubhouse.

I hope the team will start to gel and come together soon. At least they didn't lose their intrasquad game.

Hopefully we'll see Sheppards or the other young pitcher make his way up to the bigs this year. Suppose to be studs

Kirkman is supposed to be getting a real shot as well. A young staff can be great but it would be good to have 1 or 2 salty vets in there that are battle tested; CJ had 1 good year, Colby had to learn to pitch in Japan and Webb is coming off of surgery.

Felize started yesterday. Went 2 innings and gave up to hits no runs, and hit a batter. I wonder how hard it really is to go from a closer to a started for someone that young.

Don't know, but wasn't he a starter in the minors?

He was questionable as a starter in the minors.

He wasn't there long enough to even make an impression. He was solid in AA ball but yeah he struggled at the AAA level before they moved him to the bullpen. Being a 20 year old pitcher though he had some maturing to do.

He does need to develop another pitch to be a solid major league starter. His fast ball is lights out, he can follow that up with a change up that's out of this world but after watching those for 4-5 innings hitters will start knocking them out of the park.

Anyone know when the first Ranger game will be on TV? Watched a Cubs gamer today, was really wanting to watch a Ranger team play.

I have the same question. The east coast gets to see their teams play, but we're blacked out and/or not even broadcasting. I don't care much about pre-season games, but since, unlike football, most teams will be playing starters a good portion of the game, I'd like to get a sense of where this team is.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Paper shows Saturday and Sunday's games on TV... 21, then FSSW. I think that order.
