Pastor Maldonaldo has been replaced by Kevin Magnussen at Renault which was formally Lotus. I guess PDVSA got tired of paying for a driver that wrecks a lot.

If ferrari isnt close this season...f1 is done in america....if not already.

I dont think COTA has even paid for all of 2015. If they happen to save the race there this year it will probably be the last there.

I hope baku doesnt happen at all. Rather watch lemans with no f1 distractions.

Probably no international F1 trip for me this year unless COTA fails in which case I will go to Mexico City.


my predictions:

McLaren Honderp improve massively... but still not enough to mean anything. 7th place finish in the constructors for them.

I hope HAAS does well, hopefully even beat out mclaren & STR.

I dont think RBR does anything special simple cause of magic TAG HEUER branded Renault engines.

Mercedes will win constructors again but Rosberg and Hamilton will be closer this year. Vettel has a good chance at the drivers championship this year if the other two slip up or dont maximize every 1-2.

This will be raikkonen's last year. He is underwhelm us again. Bottas to Ferrari in 2017.

Tight race in constructors from 3rd to 7th between rbr, renault, williams mclaren, haas, and str.

I wonder what Kimi will do after F1? Maybe NASCAR? He did kinda talk good about it when asked. Probably Rally.

If I've read everything right, engine suppliers can develop their engine's at anytime. No token system anymore. Also I thought I read where all engines have to be the same. Not this customer/works team stuff.

mclaren turned laps and didnt get towed home. honda running a mk 1 engine this week. this is a 2015 PU with known weaknesses and reliability addressed. plan for mk 2 engine with improved performance and design for data for next week's 4 test days. mk 3 engine for melbourne based on results of test.

haas came out with decent pace right out of the gate. only known failure was of a front wing falling apart on a straight. didnt turn that many laps but they seem to be well ahead of where mclaren were last year due to running ferrari PU.

I am a bit bummed out. I applied for a job at Haas.... They said no in a nice email. I guess my open wheeled racing was not good enough. (raced a dragster for 10 years).


However I can say a F1 team has my resume on file!

Williams I can't say I'm surprised. Yea they said they're going to make more improvements, but they car itself looks like last years design.
At the same time I think I read that Vettel's fastest lap was almost 2 seconds quicker than the pole speed in last years race in Spain

also read the new qualifying rules being talked about.

3 sessions
First session is like 15 mins with after 5 mins every car them gets eliminated after 90secs until they reach 15.
Second session is like 12 mins with after 5 mins every car gets eliminated every 90secs until they reach 8.
Session 3 is a 10 min session with after 5 mins every car gets eliminated every 90secs until they have two cars left.

yea, something stupid like that. it's a damn gimmick. qualifying wasn't broken in f1. it is one of the few consistent bright spots.

sundays are broken. there is an inability to race from start to checker due to fuel conservation, tyre preservation, and the inability to challenge a similar paced car properly due to dirty air washing out aero.

Well the Wechlin was a Mercedes push from Toto Wolf so I can understand that. I was surprised about hearing that Rossi wouldn't return.

Read during the scroll on espn's UK feed and they think that Williams is sandbagging heavily. With the times they're producing I hope they are.

Agree with Haas. My question is how fast can Mercedes go? Cause Ferrari looks quick.

Mark Webber has made several comments about the tire preservation and it's not what it used to be. I agree with that. It's annoying that they can't go on the limit for the majority of the race. I would love for them to bring back refueling but that didn't come through.
