While true, coaches still have to call plays that can put them in situations to win each down. And so far this season, they have completely and miserably failed at this. Play calling is piss poor, period. As I stated earlier in this thread, they keep calling plays for last season's team. They don't work for this team, because this team isn't even a fraction of the talent they had last season.

Cassel is about as indecisive as they get. He sat around in the pocket too long IMO, which led our typically fast-positioning offense to get set up on by the secondary.

He's unsure, indecisive, and can't read a defense very well. What Tony Romo does in the game, pre snap, can not be understated, and people tend to forget all about it. Changing the plays, calling out the blitzer, catching them off balance, etc. Cassel just doesn't have the football smarts that Romo does, and it's painfully obvious every time he lines up under center.

I'm done with regular season football. Cassel has shitty mechanics, can't make his mind up where to throw the ball, and in general looks completely confused. Yep the weather was bad, and our run D wasn't the greatest, but Cassel gives them 0 chance to win. The drops didn't exactly help.

He fucking sucks, it was obvious after the first game. I thought he might be rusty, but after the last few games, he really isn't worth a fuck. I still can't believe we couldn't find a decent QB, it can only mean that we knew he sucked, wouldn't win us game so we could get a decent pick. Oh they will, don't worry. As per the new normal in Valley Ranch, they'll hit on 1st and 2nd round picks, but the picks won't reflect our biggest needs. Rounds 3-7 will be a big swing and a miss.

Just take a look at the drafts going back to 2012. Focus on rounds 3-7, then play "Where are they now?" Sadly, this includes the 2015 draft as well.

I can't and won't argue your logic, it is accurate.

Just in my (not a football smarts guy as far as knowing all the inner workings) simple mind, those drives up the middle on 3rd and 1 is the play that all teams should be able to execute at least some of the time. They've been doing it since pee-wee ball.

However, I may be over-simplifying it. Regardless - they need a new strategy because throwing simple short passes is only good for so long.

I'm quite happy to see them failing, but for some reason I have some pity on the coaching staff.

Jerry is a fucking fool if he keeps him around. Romo being out is not the cause of all this failure. Not even close.
