Anyone picking up chatter about the Rangers signing a LHP who has spent time here a few years ago???

No but there's chatter surrounding Yu Darvish because of his brother being arrested for being involved in a gambling ring. MLB is investigating just cause of the nature of it.

Are you talking about Cliff Lee or CJ Wilson? I'm sure the Angels would love to dump CJ's salary. Too bad for them he's a better option than just about any of the remaining free agents. Gallardo is still on the market and would be an upgrade over their entire staff but that's it.

It'd be awesome to get CJ for a sack of beans and have the Angels pay 75% of his contract. They'd be paying $40 million towards our roster between him and Hamilton.

I'm not sure I'd want to gamble on Lee. He might be great still but he's one bad stretch from retirement.

In other news the Rangers invited Lewis Brinson to spring training. He should start being hyped up as much as Profar was a couple of years ago. That and Mazara will be there.

Corporan just signed with the Yankees so it looks like we have Chirinos and Gimenez as backstops right now. The team is trying to work a deal for Jonathan Lucroy from the Brewers which would be awesome but it's going to take one of the prospects. But with Ranger prospects that really means major league quality talent with a virtually unlimited ceiling.

Gallardo is still on the market as well. That $15.8 million qualifying offer is probably looking pretty good right now.

It looks like Gallardo is heading to Baltimore with a 3 year deal. Which means he'll probably win the Cy Young next year since our rejects tend to flourish there for some reason. Cruz, Davis and O'Day coming to mind. The good thing is that qualifying offer which gives Texas the 14th pick in the draft.

            Spring training opens tomorrow!

Texas picked up Ian Desmond this weekend for some reason, who had a qualifying offer so now we lose that first round pick. He's a career SS that turned down a $100+ million contract with the Nationals last year. They got him pretty cheap though at $8 million for one season and he's switching to LF and a backup middle infielder.

He's a pretty decent fielder that usually hits 20-25 homeruns, a career .264 average and he can steal 15-20 bases a year. More power, slightly lower average and a little more speed than our last player named Ian that played middle infielder and at half the price and he's agreed to switch positions.

Our offense looks pretty good now and this means we have zero expectations of Hamilton so anything he does will be a bonus.

With Gallo ready to play, the Rangers didn't need another Ian. We need arms, more arms, more arms..... always the same with the Rangers too many f'n bats and not enough arms. There are only 9 spots in the lineup and sadly Elvis still is one of them.

bullpen from what I've heard is in good shape

Also the rotation isn't that bad when it's going to be Hamels, Holland, Perez, Lewis, and then either Chi Chi or Martinez. That's not too bad. Holland has to have a good year or the Rangers can release him after 2016. 2017 is a team option of $10 Million.

And even stronger when Darvish comes back - if he comes back healthy. From what I've heard, he's looked strong so far in his comeback. He's on track for May.

In other news, some talking heads have the Rangers and Cubs in the World Series.

Well its one long ass season..... so just making the playoffs is hard and requires relatively good health.

If the Rangers don't lose Moreland and their crop of upcoming youth, they seem to be in good shape for quite a while. I say we still need 1 more starting arm though. Lewis won't last much longer..... and Darvish is proving to be tender.

They definitely could use another quality starter but who couldn't? I think most teams would love to have Chi Chi or AJ Griffin as a #5. Holland and Perez are also pretty fragile, I wouldn't count on them for the entire season.

Tolleson has also been struggling but we have a few decent closer candidates if he's not effective.

We still need a catcher though. Chirinos should be solid but he's never started more than 93 games in a season. Gimenez is basically an auto out.

                            Catching situation has been rectified.

The Tigers have traded Bryan Holaday, who found himself third on the team's depth chart at catcher, to the Rangers in exchange for catcher Bobby Wilson and right-handed pitcher Myles Jaye.

Martinez was sent to AAA and the big surprise of the season is that Hamilton is headed to the DL.
