As the article states, every pitcher breaks contact with the rubber prior to releasing the pitch, which is technically in violation of the rule. The only difference is that he does it a whole lot more than anybody else.

Tim Lincecum and Jordan Walden do almost the same thing. It's less obvious with Lincecum because he's so short but he still won back to back Cy Youngs so obviously it works.

Javy Guerra did it in high school, but I think they worked on getting away from it in the minors.
