Hamilton has to be one the streakiest hitters in the history of the game. He's always been a late starter and the Angels didn't do him any favors by locking him out of spring training.

He's only had 119 at bats and has produced 17 rbis. Fielder is the team leader with 407 at bats and 63 rbis. That works out to 58 rbis if you take out all the variables. Pretty good for 1/10 of the salary. Since the all star break Hamilton has had 69 at bats and produced 11 of those rbis while Fielder has had 71 and 9.

Prior to the break it was all Fielder and Moreland, since though it's been mostly Odor, Choo and Hamilton winning games. Now it looks like Beltre might be finally coming along as well. If we can get Fielder and Moreland back along with the other 3 guys and DeShields this team is going to be really hard to beat.

      • That's where I was going with clutch, he's had two walk off hits im not mistaken. I just don't see much overall production. I question whether or not we should sub another hitter in for him.

        • I have noticed Fielder has been pretty unproductive of late.

If the solid pitching keeps going, they could make the playoffs. Of course, it looks like Houston is crumbling and LA isn't as solid as they look IMO.

Anyone we could sub him with is going to be left handed and other than Gallo (who hit 3 homeruns last night) not really be an improvement. He's every bit as productive as Choo and is costing us a whole lot less.

The Rangers just called up Luke Jackson btw. He's their #9 prospect right now and was being groomed as a starter but he'll be a late reliever in the majors. He can bring 100 mph heat and follow it up with a decent curveball.

Gallo was who I was thinking of. We do need more right handed hitters.

He's 43 at bats from losing his rookie status so unless Beltre gets hurt he'll be sitting in AAA until September. Not only does it help his chances for the ROY award next season but it keeps the arbitration and free agent clocks from starting.

We'll be going after Cespedes and Upton in the off season but so will everyone else. Neither of them are likely to accept a qualifying offer though so it'll cost a draft pick.

                      • He is waaay too old. I hope they didn't pay much. Him and The Flyin Hawaiian are on their way to retirement.

                        • Hamels was just scratched from his Thursday start with a groin injury, not headed to the DL at this point.

                              • I have a feeling you'll see at least one Cruz missile but I think Hamels will do pretty good otherwise. They've already scratched Hamilton again but the new kid looks okay.
