So the rumor mill is finally starting to produce on this. Warsh apparently had an argument with JD regarding the Darvish shut down. His contract has some verbiage that'd motivate management to sit him. It's actually a pretty crappy thing to do to your ace.

The way his contract is worded says that if he wins the Cy Young ever the 2017 year becomes a player option. Or since he finished 2nd last year he could finish in the top 4 in back to back seasons and get the same option. With 4 starts left he could have pretty easily made it to the top 4 and if he did it again next year he'd be a free agent in 2017 instead of making $11 million. He'll pretty easily make double and possibly even triple that in free agency.

Darvish obviously isn't going to call out management about this but Warsh may have.

I can kinda see both sides, when you are in last place, you dont want to risk your ace getting injured. Then again, from a player's standpoint, Id be a livid mofo if you benched me and cut me out of the running for the Cy Young award. Poly-tics at it's greatest.

He didn't have a legit shot at 4th in cy young anyways so I don't think this holds much weight...

Who cares if he did or didn't. As a player, he's basically the property of the Texas Rangers. They paid a bundle in bidding fees alone on top of the contract to get him, and they can do what they want with him. It was time for Wash to go anyway. He's an average manager at best, but the players seem to like him. A better manager would have at least 2 WS titles here.

That's debatable. Felix or Cluber are probably going to win it but the next two spots are between Garret Richards and Greg Holland. Closers rarely ever win and if Richards has a couple of bad starts and Darvish had 4 good ones they'd have basically the same record, whip and ERA but with Darvish passing him on strikeouts. That and there are other factors like not getting any run support, having sub par defense and using several different catchers throughout the season. Then they also look at park factors, Darvish is in the second most hitter friendly park in the league. Richards and Felix are in the least.

Who knows, Warsh was known as being an advocate for his players. I can see him going to bat for Darvish or anyone else.

Whatever it is I'll bet it won't be pretty.

Texas Rangers sports news and analysis. Baseball updates, scores, schedules and stats on the Rangers.

Former Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington on Thursday will make his first public statement since resigning as Texas Rangers manager on Sept. 5.

Washington will make a statement at a Dallas-area hotel. He apparently has retained two communications firms that deal in crisis management to assist him. It is not known if Washington will answer questions.

That seems to be the case. He didn't go into detail but he broke his wife's trust.
