It is a new color. However, the stars main color has always been green. That is why I say the jersey prior to the black ones was much better. Had the logo, which is tradition for hockey, it also had the color. I will not lie to you and say I loved the new jerseys first time I saw them. I didn't like them. But they have grown on me. I never owned a black jersey. I always wore my green one and never bought the black.

Also, I think the black helped me covertly sneak into the inner realms of opposing venues. Then people would realize I was not a friendly and feel betrayed by their security. Loved that.

I shit you not, I was nearly a cause of a riot in The Shark Tank in SJ (they had black jerseys too). I just made sure to wear my Stanley Cup Champions shirt underneath if I was discovered. I'd yawn and lift the jersey for a real reaction.

Stars also got Ales Hemsky - Spezza's partner up on Ottawa.

They got him for a 3 year deal, and if they're buds, it might make it much more likely the Stars can get Spezza to re-up for a few more years as well instead of being a 1 year rental player.

IMO, Dallas really came out on top in this trade. I really like Chaisson and I hope he does well but he hasn't been as big of a producer as he probably could be. He started out strong and went into this major lull after taking the puck to the face and he didn't start to produce till the end of the season.

And to the jersey argument, we all have our own opinions. I'm not a huge fan of the logo, it's just too busy IMO, but I love the color. The last jerseys were WAY too plain IMO. Solid black or solid white that said Dallas when they first got the new jerseys. Later on they added the numbers under the word Dallas and in the last couple years of them they added the alternate away jersey with the actual logo (below).

This was one of the best jerseys they've had IMO.

More to like about the Hemsky signing. Dallas' PP sucked last year. If these two are as good together on the PP as this states, that will benefit us tremendously. I'm really liking what Jim Nill has done. Take note Jerry Jones.

1:35 p.m. SIGNING: Ales Hemsky to the Stars for three years and $12 million.

I mentioned earlier the challenge that Stars GM Jim Nill faced in finding a winger whose style meshed well with the newly acquired Jason Spezza. It took the man less than an hour to get the job done. Hemsky and Spezza showed some real chemistry after the former Oiler was acquired by Ottawa at the trade deadline in March. He had 17 points in 20 games with the Sens and the two were dynamite on the power play.

That's no small consideration for the Stars. Their first unit with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn worked well in fits and starts last season, but the group as a whole connected at just 15.9 percent, ranking a lowly 23rd in the league. Having a second unit based around Hemsky and Spezza should make the Stars exponentially more dangerous with the extra man. Won't hurt a team that was 13th at five-on-five, either.
