Me too. For lewis to not win the drivers championship after the challenges he has overcome with more mechanical failures, DNFs, and qualifying disasters compared to nico, it's hard to accept that he can still lose to nico in the final race.

In the end I accept the rules and the double points. I just hope both cars are able to to make it it though the weekend without any issues and are able to race and let this be decided the right way. No mechanical failures, no pit stop disasters, no errant backmarker collsions or safety car strategy call situation.

That and qualifying does not earn points. Plain and simple... Nico has 5 wins to Lewis's 10. While I on one hand feel the double points in Abu Dhabi is kinda cool, if Nico wins because of it (would not win without DP) then I think that'd be a travesty for the sport, especially considering Spa.

That's simply not the case. The championship would have come down to Abu Dhabi any way and Rosberg can win without the assistance of double points, albeit needing to win with Hamilton finishing in 6th or 7th or below.

For an additional point of reference, under the 2003-2009 points system Rosberg is only 1 point behind (136-135) and would only need to win with Lewis coming in 3rd to have the outright championship.

It will be a shame if it comes down to double points, but it doesn't have to for Rosberg to legitimately win the championship.

I don't like the idea of double points. What if Hamilton has an issue like he did at Australia and loses the title that way? Thats just my two cents on it.

McLaren debut the new car with a Honda powerplant. Suppose to debut it and run at race speed at Dubai after the Grand Prix.

Hang on a second..I'm 27...are you that young?

I will admit the only history I know Is racing history and oil prices. But I'd say this is strikingly simliar too cart/indy. It was a cost control issue mostly with some other tech shit peppered in.

Indy will be cool soon again. Probably within 5-10 years as well.

yea i'm only 31. i mean i did watch indy and f1 in the late 80s and early 90s but i was just a child then and only watched cause i thought emerson fittipaldi was a cool name, cars were fast, sounded good and i could afford to buy the winning car in hot wheels form.

i don't know what happened with cart.

i lost racing until about the early 2000s when i watched a small amount of F1 schumacher dominance then made a full return to F1 in 2008.

haha, and i've got 4 years on you man! there are big changes in those 4 years, most noticeable is the change that requires you to make a restroom pit stop before driving home from anywhere, any distance, any amount of time, because without fail, you will have to pee.

I'm 26, but I thought perhaps (don't mean this as a knock) being ya'll know more of the past than I do somewhat.

I remember watching NASCAR like in the mid 90's. Bobby Labonte was my favorite driver. I haven't really paid attention though since like 2008-2009. I don't really care for the new championship format, and don't really care for most of these new drivers coming up. However if I did have to pick one I'd go with Chase Elliott. Yes he's Bill Elliott's kid and I'm sure he had some help, but the kid can drive.

CART for me was when Juan Montoya was in it for 2 years with Chip Ganassi. One of my favorite races was the Michigan 500 in 2000 with Montoya battling Michael Andretti in the final 10 laps. I started to follow F1 again because of Montoya going to Williams in 2001.

Formula 1 I remember as a kid watching the Schumacher vs Hakkinen battles in the late 90's. Spa in 2000 is IMO the best overtake you'll ever see with Hakkinen overtaking Schumi with a back marker in the way. Only other that comes to mind is Webber overtaking Alonso at Spa in 2011. Starting to watch F1 more when Lewis Hamilton came on the scene.

CART in its heyday had Chip Ganassi Racing, Penske Racing, Rahal Racing, and Team Green (What was Andretti Green and what is Andretti Autosport now). CART tried to have a race at TMS in 2001 which the drivers didn't race cause the cars were going too fast. They cancelled the race. After 2001, Chip Ganassi Racing and Penske moved to IRL for 2002. Andretti Green Racing moved in 2003. Rahal Racing (Which is now Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) and Fernandez Racing moved in 2004. CART then got worse and worse until it went bankrupt and merged with IRL in 2008.

Probably the thing that showed what CART was in its heyday was that stupid movie Driven. Only good thing about it was Estella Warren

And I compare f1 to cart/indy because indy was a response to a racing series that had become too expensive (cart) and driven by a few wealthy teams that could afford the ridiculous technology and development costs.

If an old disgruntled investor wanted to start a series that was exciting and affordable for the racing focused teams, there is plenty is money there to do that by going with a cosworth V8 and aero blend. If I were caterham, lotus, marussia, sauber and FI...that would be my threat.
