Perez gets a 5 place grid penalty for Austria for causing the collision with Massa. Reason was because Perez moved into Massa's braking zone which caused the accident.

Massa definitely didn't need to be that close...that's for sure. I've watched it over and over and the speed differential was so massive it's really hard to place blame.
It is also sad to see newey begin to fall out of his role due to the over regulation of aero and design.

Slow hand that graphic shows nothing but someone's bias...a picture will never prove much.
Momos gif shows how they both appeared to turn into each other. Even with that...it takes a lot more data to understand why Perez was labeled at fault. It would be neat to see that, as well as his line on other laps.

Massa was following the racing arc (not line) around that corner. Perez was either about to try to divebomb Vettel (wasn't going to work out for him) or made a late defensive move (you just can't do that when you're already in a breaking zone).
But, Massa cut that move very tight. I'll contend that he needed to, as people are looking at that and thinking he had unlimited space to the left, but if he wanted to make the pass stick and make it through the corner, he couldn't be sitting on the left side of the track much longer.
Not sure any penalty should have been handed out. Massa/Williams and Perez/FI bitching and moaning about each other is unnecessary in any case.

Massa has been extremely unfortunate this year. He was nailed by a caterham, has had a few botched pitstops, and then contact with Perez. The only issue that I would say he's even close to having a hand in is his contact with Perez. But even that isn't necessarily his fault.

i probably wouldn't have penalized either but i can see why they chose perez, as on board shows perez did make a leftward maneuver which coming into left-hander is "incorrect" and doesnt match anyones including his own racing lines from earlier laps.

Looking at newey scaling back, caterham on the brink, rumors of Ferrari leaving f1 and all the smaller teams upset with pricing...do you think f1 will go the way of indy/champ?
It seemed a lot of the same issues were present when that all went bust
