Gordon had a good car, and it seemed that he wasnt going to settle or quit. I was wondering what happened on that last lap cause I swore I heard several times that Gordon was good on fuel. But yea Gordon ran a hell of a race.
yeah, I keep hearing about the level of competition in Petty's days vs now. But if you really think about it, there is a reason you dont see any of the regular truck guys and Nationwide guys in sprint cup. So in essence, Kyle is doing the same. There is a reason they call sprint regulars "buschwackers" that race in the nationwide. And they cant win the nationwide title anymore. When he gets close to Jimmy or Jeff type wins in cup, lets talk then.

But I still think he is the best pure driver.

    • Even though its an off week, a little news came out. AJ Allmendinger and Juan Montoya are getting new crew chiefs.

      • I knew Montoya was getting one Monday. I had wondered about AJ. His team seemed to be getting better early in the season then just kind of faded away.

Yea AJ has lost something over the last few months. He was really clicking early in the year but hasn't been as strong as he was late. Montoya is a loose cannon anyways, I bet his old crew chief didnt mind the change.

          • yup. I think montoya has talent, but like most of the drivers from open wheels find out, they are not the big fish in the pond anymore. I kind of like AJ. I hope he can turn it around and build for next year.

I thought AJ wasn't going to be that good when he first started in nascar. His first year at Red Bull he struggled, but midway in his second year he and his team got good solid runs at Red Bull. I dont know why they released Allmendinger for Scott Speed, that is a guy that is so overrated that even Joey Logano would agree he is overrated. I still think he will win this year, he has been good at just about all types of tracks. He's good at the restrictor plate tracks, and has the trust of a Mark Martin to draft with him. He has been good on the 1.5 mile tracks like Atlanta, Texas, etc. Ran really good at Dover as well in the Spring.

Totally agree. I think given his team was a little better funded, they would be a threat.

exactly, I think in the last 10 years with these guys switching from Open Wheel to stock car Allmendinger has been consistently the best. You have other guys like Casey Mears, Robby Gordon, John Andretti, and IM sure there are others to add. But He can drive a car, and unlike Montoya he can race and pass clean. I've always said it takes more talent and skill to pass someone clean than it is to just move them out of the way.

                  • yup. he is definately a Mark Martin type as far as driving and racing clean goes.

on a side note, though its not really nascar related, seems Jeff Gordon's ex wife (Brook) cant seem to let Jeff go completely. She just got married to some politician guy, though she had a baby with another guy. Baby daddy is sueing her because she purposely had a kid with him, yet she gave the child Gordon's last name. I just thought it was funny, yet weird. And since I'm a huge Gordon fan, thought I would throw it in here.

when Mark Martin comes out and say's I'm going with you and I'm working with you, then you have my attention. The same way when Jeff Gordon said that about Trevor Bayne, if someone who is respected and is one of the best in the sport says that about another driver then it means something.

lol wow, and I wondered why after the divorce why Jeff wasn't as good mentally but after hearing all he shit that he had to go through then it made sense. She is a gold digger.

you hit the nail on the head there my friend!!

As far as Brook... yes she is a gold digger. AND A FINE ONE AT THAT. But she didnt clean Jeff out like she wanted. She asked for half his wealth plus alimony. She got 15 million (which is a lot for anybody) but not even close to half. She also didnt get the alimony. And most of the money came from the sale of two of their properties and their yacht, that was ordered to be divided. So Im sure he was happy to get rid of her for really not much since it didnt come directly from his pocket, but came from the sale of property.

It would be cool to see AJ sign with one of the big money teams and see what happens. Guess we will wait and see....

its very possible with all the rumors around Carl Edwards that if he does indeed switch rides and goes to JGR then Allmendinger could be in the 99.

would have been interesting if Hendricks signed him instead of Kasey.

I dont think that could happen cause Kasey already signed a deal, and this year in his Red Bull car he has had some good runs.

                              • Okay this weekend the guys are at Indianapolis, this usually is a great race. The lone exception was a few years ago with the Goodyear debacle. I honestly don't have a favorite in this race, I think it will be the usual players like Johnson, Gordon, Harvick, Stewart. Also look at Montoya as well. Nationwide is at Indianapolis Raceway Park which is a good track I think. I believe the Truck Series is also at Indianapolis Raceway Park
